Connecticut Ave Deckover Project getting some girders! connave-streetscape.ddot.dc.gov/pages/53d409...
Oof. Pretty bad, but I believe it'll be redone as part of the 11th St protected bike lane.
Note the Retail requirement carve out for freestanding parking garages. Big give-away to the team owners which will deaden the public realm around the two massive full-block garages, going directly against stated goals of vibrant walkability. (page 106-107)
Since the bus in the middle never ever comes (despite what the schedule says) this is effectively a 33 minute headway. Unacceptable. @wmatagm.bsky.social @wmata.com @cmlewisgeorgew4.bsky.social
Yep. Ethiopia, one of the most biggest countries in Africa, nearly doubled output since 2023, with GERD, a massive hydro dam, fully coming online.
new protected #bikedc lanes on Kansas Ave between Blair Rd (MET Branch Trail) and Madison St NW. cc: @washcycle.bsky.social
Bummer... CCT won't open until Fall 2026 now. cc: @washcycle.bsky.social www.purplelinenow.com
Counterpoint: this space, sandwiched between 2 stroads, will be a ghost town.
@wmatagm.bsky.social @metrobusinfo.bsky.social Today's bus roulette, but with the official WMATA app. Bus scheduled for 750, BUT no bus on the map and a vague warning that there are significant delays.
@wmatagm.bsky.social @metrobusinfo.bsky.social another day of bus roulette. Is the bus we need just not showing its location or is it not running and we the up late for school? Last week we were late.
@wmatagm.bsky.social ugh guess I'm standing around in the cold for the next 30 minutes.
I'd love to give you a tour of my neighborhood and how challenging it is to walk around here on the sidewalks.
Riding the bus right now is a disaster. Conflicting information from different official sources. Lots of bus bunching. Many routes out of service. Bus stops are mountains of snow and ice. @wmatagm.bsky.social
Might have a lot to do with the fact that all the stations are WAY outside the cities they are intended to serve.
Except the 311 app is broken. And so are half the benches and a lot of the play equipment at the same playground.
Case in point: the trash can at the park is overflowing, and there are rats everywhere. Gross but easily fixable, right. Just put in a 311 request.
The forests there are a hot mess. If they were doing good environmental protection/preservation, you could at least consider their argument, but that is not at all the case. Every stretch of urban forest in that area is a full trees being slowly strangled by invasive vines.
I just don't get it. They barely maintain any of those parks, and it's hard to even imagine how a 10' wide strip of asphalt of the edge of a massive, lightly-used field would cause any environmental/preservation issues.
Every day this happens. @wmatagm.bsky.social keeps saying bus service is good, but actually riding the bus is a much different, more frustrating experience.
For buses, I don't see it. Your own data says the percentage of planned bus trips that were actually delivered is at a 3 year low. Missed trips -> people standing around waiting for a no-show bus: late for work, school, appointments, etc. www.wmata.com/about/record... @wmatagm.bsky.social
Progress on MET Branch Trail up to Maple St SW. Now paved, but not fully striped. Rideable but not officially open. Looking nice, @ddotdc.bsky.social #bikedc cc: @washcycle.bsky.social
Anyone know the story behind this one-block stretch of protected #bikedc lane on Mass Ave between NJ Ave NW & 2nd St NW? It's only on the north side of the street. @washcycle.bsky.social
@ddotdc.bsky.social nearly saw 2 kids killed going home from school today. @mayorbowser.dc.gov @cmcharlesallen.bsky.social
Fascinating data & maps from NRDC. In DC, 67% of adults live in car-lite or car-free households 32% live in completely car-free households This is entirely the result of density, transit, walkability, and bikeability. www.nrdc.org/resources/wh...
I don't think what you're saying is unpopular, and it's very much in line with common practices in bike-friendly countries. bicycledutch.wordpress.com/2013/02/23/t...
Thanks for replying. Yes traffic is bad. However, every morning, we can tell if we're running late to our bus stop by watching for 2 buses passing by at the same time on the same route in the same direction. Every day. Same exact time. This is not a traffic issue.
