Here in Pittsburgh they own their own, and kind of overpaid for it. It’s a beautiful old neighborhood Catholic church that was desacralized in 1994, sold to an antiques dealer, then RE speculators. It’s in a flood plain so you can’t really even build there. They’re the only ones that would want it.

Everyone talks about flat-earthers and moon landing deniers, but sometimes I wonder why there isn’t a group of Australia-skeptics. It just all reads as very made-up to an outsider.

Excerpt from a New Yorker article listing three native animal species driven to extinction by the introduction of of the red fox. Each name is more implausible than the last:

“In the nineteen nineties, the Australian
government launched a national campaign to eradicate red foxes. British settlers had imported them more than a century earlier for hunts, only to watch them exterminate native species like the numbat, the boodie, and Gilbert's potoroo.”

Forgetting about the removals, that list looked really thin. Digging a bit more, they’ve also smoothed all of the edges off of the classifications, which used to be very specific. Now it’s: Reform or Orthodox? Nope, just “Jewish.” Byzantine or other Orthodox churches who follow Rome? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Certainly no Seattle expert, but what I've read suggests that they legislated any sort of permitted sizable multi-family development out of existence anywhere but along arterials and in specific "Urban Villages," i.e. where local and regional retail ought to be. Maybe allow apt bldgs in res areas?
