It’s been two years since I published my book about writing and arranging for choirs! I am so proud with how well it’s been received and appreciated.
Update on the tree I planted in front of my building: it’s beginning to bud and we got our first blossom this morning!
I really don’t care about a car parked on the street having fallen flowers on it. We deserve beautiful public spaces with a touch of whimsy. Also, in places like LA with regular street sweeping, we can stay maintain usable streets and bike lanes.
This is not a big part of the cars ruin cities™️ ethos, but one thing that I find discouraging is that car owners repeatedly complain about flowering trees, or other trees that shed, being used as street trees. Their complaint that flowers drop on their cars usually means we don’t get flowering trees
It’s not every day you find this chaos gremlin cuddling with her toy lion 🥰
Probably time to actually plant one of these in a pot with soil
Here’s another video from June’s recording session near Hearst Castle. This is an excerpt from “Grace - I sat down under his shadow” - Bob Cole Chamber Choir at CSULB. #choralmusic #choir #classicalmusic
The sheet music is available here: www.mattnielsen.com/glimmer
I thought I’d post some videos of my music that got recorded last month on the central coast of California. This is “Glimmer - I am the rose of Sharon” #choralmusic #choir
It might be hard to see but there’s been a ton of new growth on the tree since it got planted in the ground 🤗
Got a free tree from the city. Decided it belonged in the tree well in front of my apartment. Watering it every day and put up a little perimeter to try and keep dogs at bay. Doing what little I can to make my neighborhood even better.
Welp, the Washington Post is now the New York Post. It’s so tempting to comment and repost dunking on this dude but I recommend restraint instead. Don’t give them views, clicks, or engagement of any kind. Let this wither and atrophy from neglect and disregard.
It’s hard to explain to folks outside of LA what a big deal it is to even get this first four-mile subway extension opened. This will start a chain reaction for a mobility revolution in this city.
An excerpt from my work “Ecstasy - Thou hast ravished my heart” from Songs of Solomon. Performed by the Bob Cole Chamber Choir conducted by Lê Ðoài Huy. #choralmusic #choir #choral #classicalmusic
Of course we took @metrolosangeles.bsky.social to get here #Eline
Sometimes I’m not sure about sharing choral music here on bluesky cause it doesn’t seem like there are all that may choral people here. Doesn’t feel like this art is well received here. Having said that I’m going to share this very personal composition of mine here anyway.
The end of the movement, and the work, “Eat, O friends. Drink, yea drink abundantly. O Beloved.”
