Boom, found it! The AT&T VideoPhone 2500 from 1993 - it sold for $1,499, or you could rent one for $30 a day. It was discontinued in 1995.
I know we like to make fun of crappy old web design, and modern HTML is better in many respects. But I do genuinely miss websites that look like this:
