To Lt. Russell Schroeder. Pilot of the B-17 Dry Run. On June 14, 1944 two German fighters shot up the tail and rudder. Lt. Schroeder held on to the controls long enough to allow all his 9 crew to bail out. Then he was killed trying to bail out himself. French farmers hid the crew for two months.
