I picked these up a few years ago and I always take the mushroom one with me on hikes.

A pair of field guides I picked up at HEB, one for native Texas wildlife, and the other for common North American mushrooms.

An artist's (Joan Francesc Oliveras) rendering of a Mycenaean warrior in armor of overlapping bronze bands with a massive cylindrical gorget, an hourglass-shaped shield of thick leather padding over wood and a bronze axe in the iconic Mycenaean style. The arms and armor are based on recovered artifacts and contemporary artistic depictions, making them as historically accurate as possible given what we know.

Hot take, I know, but Quint's Indianapolis speech is maybe the greatest monologue in all of film. I am lukewarm on Spielberg a lot of the time but this movie is just magic in a way that I think may be genuinely irreproducible.

Chief Brody doesn't know how to spell 'coroner'. Once might be a typo, but it's spelled "corner" here twice.

The prose in this series is rarely more than workmanlike, but I feel like the spectre of Douglas Adams was in the room when Ben Counter wrote this passage.

“The Furious Abyss had plunged into this sea. It was kept intact by a sheath of overlapping Geller fields, without which it would disintegrate as its component atoms ran out of reasons to stay neatly arranged in its metals.”

Specifically they both explore themes of posthumanism, exploitation, and the dangers/ethics of widespread automation, but then also there's stuff like this.
