I knew when my Banjo (RIP) went deaf when she stopped being terrified of thunder. My current dog is also a wreck during the monsoon season (now), which brings daily thunder, but hardly a drop of rain.
Wednesday night at the Grand Canyon. With a great view to the west, I was able to catch elusive Mercury.
A few photos from the south rim, Grand Canyon. A massive star party is happening this week. Venus and Jupiter were stars early in the evening. Elusive Mercury (arrow) made a brief appearance. Way over a hundred telescopes. The weather was fabulous last night.
From what I read, POC will outnumber non hispanic whites by 2045, due in part to declining white birthrates. That's only 19 years away, and it terrifies those MAGAt white Christian nationalists. Hence their push to keep their/all woman barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen I hope Iive to see it.
I use weed barrier, mainly bc I still have a lot of the roll left. It lets SOME light through, enough to cast a faint shadow. But they get either morning and/or evening sun as well. Sheets may work even better! They'll get a lot more straw mulch, too, as they grow.

Yes, I've eaten quite a few pods. Frankly, I'm tired of radishes for a while. I love them, but sometimes go overboard planting. I may plant another few daikons in the fall, but I'm off little ones for now.
The 3 stages of Elephant garlic: Full bulb, a round and a tiny corm. It takes a year to produce a round from a corm, and another year to produce the bulb from the round or a clove. A clove planted in fall should yield a full bulb 8-9 mos. later. Some harvest rounds in summer to replant in the fall.
Typical daily pick, 9/25. Shishito peppers, Roma & cherry tomatoes, Black Beauty eggplant, a few onions. Cucuzzi, an edible gourd left, Armenian cucumber on rt. 2nd picture adds corn, jalapenos, long beans & okra. I also grow swt. potatoes, basil, kale, spinach, herbs, several squash, carrots & more
I feel the same about my 17 year old. How much longer will I have him? I probably spend more on cat food (the higher the price, the better he eats it) than I do on people food, though to be fair, I grow a lot of my own food. And he follows me to the garden and the catnip plant! (older picture)

I got another ant bite today. Harvester ant bites hurt like hell. I googled remedies. The first recommendation was ice and the second was salt. Citrus helps with the itch, and alcohol was mentioned on several sites. This will definitely help. It's medicinal!
