Ideal city: ⚛️ nuclear-powered, 🏙️ dense housing, 💰 affordable, 🚇 transit. Aka Chicago. Posting about those things here, and trying to make them better IRL.
PJM had a capacity auction today, and it cleared the limit of $325/mw day. The uncapped clearing price was highest in the ComEd region. $776!!! Holy shit. I think my capacity charge would be like $30 per month uncapped. www.pjm.com/-/media/DotC...
Seems like they aren’t on IQAir. Probably available in the Chicago data portal though
A few of my friends are hosting a lecture at Harold Washington Library about nuclear energy in Illinois. You can ride a nuclear powered train to and from the lecture chipublib.bibliocommons.com/events/6a26f...
Salem already has an AP1000 early site permit. 2 year head start. www.nrc.gov/docs/ML1608/...

Looks like a lot of the city’s air quality monitors have been added to IQAir
ABRP is pretty good. I have an OBDII Bluetooth dongle for my car that feeds it live telemetry for my state of charge. Pretty nuts that I can get down to Louisville in the same amount of time as a gas car. That 800v architecture and the Alpitronic chargers go brrrrr.

Some guy bemoaned how Wrigleyville has developed north of here. And somehow characterized this new proposal as not being “Chicago”. My brother in Christ this is what is there now. They make shit pizza and as a result can’t renew their lease! Developer confirmed on the call.
Mayor Mamdani is rolling out all door bus boarding next year. Mayor Brandon Johnson hasn’t even filled the CTA President position that has remained vacant for 16 months.
Great news — these long lead item loans are now oversubscribed. The department of energy has received seven letters of intent from utilities for five slots. The prospects for 10 new AP1000 reactors are looking better and better. www.greentape.pub/p/right-of-w...
It’s utter slop. BUT. The median primary voter in Michigan is like 65 years old, and the Feds can’t really do anything like this. If it wins some votes, so be it. Much better than electing a republican.
Idk who One Illinois is going to back (will be putting like over a million into the race), but housing is on their list of nonnegotiables
