So he doesn't believe in democracy. 46% of residents oppose (42% supported) council spending money to build the $60m stadium complex, demolishing trees and a park, but he wants to build it because he played basketball, and he claims it wont take up too much space. While it occasionally borrows real terminology, Star Trek's foundational technologies rely heavily on fictional mechanics designed to serve the plot, making it, by modern standards, largely junk science:

Warp Drive: The Enterprise travels faster than light using "subspace" and "dilithium crystals," which are entirely made up. While physicists have theorized real-world warp bubbles, creating one would realistically require the energy equivalent of the entire mass of Jupiter or total annihilation of the universe.

Teleporters (Transporters): The science of "beaming" someone involves converting matter into energy, transmitting it, and rematerializing it. This conveniently ignores the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle and effectively kills the original person, replacing them with an exact quantum copy.

Abundant Alien Life: The galaxy is depicted as being densely populated by bipedal, humanoid aliens who frequently crossbreed. Realistically, extraterrestrial life - if it exists - is unlikely to look like humans with rubber foreheads or even be carbon-based in the exact same way.

Artificial Gravity & Sound in Space: The franchise routinely shows ships banking in space as though they were flying in the atmosphere, and explosions in the vacuum of space make roaring sounds. (Realistically, space is a vacuum, and sound cannot travel without a medium).

Before I transitioned I stopped playing competitive sport, not because I thought I might have an advantage after transitioning but because physical competition reinforces social order & ableism within a patriarchal system, even with female athletes. The patriarchal system holds back trans people.

An infographic I created to demonstrate that in patriarchal societies, physical competition has often been used to reproduce and legitimise existing gendered power structures.

Many sociologists, gender theorists, and anthropologists argue that direct physical competition between individuals can reinforce social hierarchies that historically align with patriarchal structures, especially when traits such as ableism, strength, aggression, dominance, endurance, or control are culturally coded as “masculine.”

The colour infographic I created demonstrates that Star Trek-style teleportation is impossible because it conflicts with several fundamental laws of physics and quantum mechanics.

A fictional transporter would need to:

* Scan every particle in a human body,
* Record its exact quantum state,
* Transmit that information elsewhere,
* Reassemble the person perfectly.

The biggest obstacle is the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle:
This principle states you cannot know both the exact position and momentum of a particle simultaneously. The image explains that a transporter would require both values with perfect precision for every particle in the body, which physics forbids.

It also references the No-Cloning Theorem, which says an unknown quantum state cannot be perfectly copied. This means a transporter could not duplicate the exact quantum information that defines a person.

The infographic demonstrates the amount of information required would be effectively infinite. A human body contains roughly 10^27 atoms, each with complex quantum states that would need to be measured and transmitted.

Another point is the immense energy requirement. Measuring and manipulating matter at that precision could demand energy comparable to stars.

Philosophically, the image argues that even if reconstruction worked, the original person would still be destroyed. The "teleported" version would be a newly assembled copy rather than a continuous consciousness.

My conclusion is that transporter technology is not merely beyond current engineering - I would argue it is fundamentally incompatible with known physics.

Invoking O Brother, where art thou? when justifying Christopher Nolan's changes to The Odyssey, is a strawman argument. I regard Keating as a Prime Minister, who acted more of a ego-driven dictator than a consensus Prime Minister like we had with Bob Hawke. During the 1990s when Keating was questioned about why Labor did not support same-sex marriage said: "Two poofs and a cocker spaniel does not a family make".

Glad Azhar didn't win. He effectively stole money from university students and never paid it back.

While appointed as an environmental officer for the Adelaide University SRC in 2020, Ahmed Azhar misappropriated funds for his own personal use ie. election posters. Azhar refused to pay it back.
