Local voices matter when it comes to improving healthcare, so it was good to be back at The Calverton Practice 🩺
💨 How many vape shops does one high street actually need? It’s a question people in Sherwood Forest ask me a lot. And it’s a fair one. Because for too long, local people have had no say on the shops that open in our town centres.
Recently, I took part in a @plmr.co.uk panel event on women's health to discuss life with PMOS & how we can improve outcomes. I also met with the Minister for Women's Health, Baroness Merron, alongside Verity to discuss how we can improve diagnosis, treatment and support for people living with PMOS.
It was fantastic to visit Newstead Abbey, one of our constituency's most treasured landmarks - a real gem of Sherwood Forest!
🌼 It was a pleasure to chat with Jo today and spend time with the wonderful volunteers from Edwinstowe in Bloom as they welcomed the Britain in Bloom judges to the village.
Earlier this week I spent the day at Nottingham City Hospital in my role as Chair of the Maternity Learning and Improvement Board, a role I was asked to take on following the recommendations of Donna Ockenden's inquiry ⤵️
💷 £24.3 Million from the Labour Government 💷 £7.5 Million from Labour Mayor ✅A614 Improvements Finally Being Delivered When I became the MP for Sherwood Forest, I was determined to get this over the line. For far too long promises were made and promises were broken on the A614 🚗
I really enjoyed visiting MiRiCal Emblems Ltd in Blidworth and learning more about the incredible work they do. It was fascinating to see the whole printing process from start to finish and meet the talented team behind their products.
A huge thank you to everyone in Year 5 at Ravenshead C of E Primary School for your thoughtful letter about the proposed housing development in Ravenshead and this fantastic poster! I am so impressed by the passion and care you've shown for the village, its green spaces and its wildlife 🌳🦋
🚨 Have your say on Hucknall's future - join the Pride in Place board 📢 Applications are now open to join the Hucknall Pride in Place Board, helping shape how £20 million is invested in our town over the next decade.
Today I had the pleasure of visiting Manor Park Infant School & Nursery in Calverton to meet the Head and to see the fantastic work taking place there 🍎 It was wonderful to meet the dedicated staff and see first-hand the inspiring learning environment they've created for their pupils.
My statement on the Gedling Borough Council Draft Local Plan 📄
Action on the planned construction access to Dorothy Avenue/Delia Avenue on Vaughan Estate, Hucknall 🚧 Sending construction traffic, HGVs and heavy machinery through an established residential neighbourhood is the wrong decision and would have a significant impact on local families ⬇️
It was great to bring residents together in Clipstone this weekend to hear your views, answer questions and discuss the issues that matter most to our community over a cuppa ☕ Your feedback as always is invaluable and helps shape my work in Parliament - thanks for coming!
Today at PMQs, I told the Prime Minister that too many families harmed by failures in maternity care are forced to relive their trauma simply to uncover the truth.
My statement on the removal of the harms of ‘normal birth’ ideology in the Baroness Amos Report 📄
If you are a constituent of Sherwood Forest and would like to come along to a hybrid meeting to discuss SEND with me on 22nd July, get in touch 📧
"Reviews do not save lives - action does" My response to the Baroness Amos report into Maternity and Neonatal Services published today 👇
Yesterday I spoke to BBC Politics East Midlands about the Donna Ockenden review ⤵️
My piece for the Ravenshead Newsletter on the proposed housing development in Ravenshead ⬇️
I recently challenged the Government on the lack of accountability from FirstPort and called for stronger regulation to protect residents from unfair estate management practices 👇
A joint statement on the publication of the Ockenden report from MPs whose constituents are under the care of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust:
Today, Donna Ockenden's report on maternity services at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust will be published at 11.45am. My thoughts are with the families whose experiences have shaped this review. Their courage in speaking out has helped expose failings that must never be repeated.
It was an honour to meet with Alan Gascoyne today, the Mineworkers' Pension Scheme Pensioner Representative Trustee for Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire ⛏️
Sad news for Sherwood Forest today - the iconic Major Oak has died 🌳
Sad news for Sherwood Forest today - the iconic Major Oak has died 🌳
Standing with miners today brought back memories of standing alongside my family all those years ago, wearing my Coal Not Dole sticker with pride ⛏️ This afternoon, I joined the Mineworkers’ Pension Justice rally in Westminster to demand what is rightfully theirs 📢
