In flight from the tweet site. Also @mikemckillen@mastodon. Retired academic biochemist & safety specialist (bio-safety trainer to CL-3) #AndICycle #ClimateCrisis #DavosSafeAir #SeparateChurchState. If you use an alphanumeric handle I will block you!
We went through Kilternan village & got lost on the new bypass to the Scalp. So many apartment & homes along the R117, raising the question about close access to public transport. Will there be increased car-dependency? [Yea, I know about the 44/Luas]
I do a lot of my #everyday bike riding in this zone. It shows the location of incidents involving drivers & bike users using data from self-reporting to collisiontracker.ie/@dublininquirer plus an overlay of RSA & @garda.ie RTC databases. Government thinks that e-scooters are our road safety issue?
Active fires/hotspots across Ireland as of earlier today via NASA FIRMS surveillance. firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/map/#d:24hrs...
64 hotspots across this island as detected by satellite surveillance by @NASA.
#motordom triumphs again as seen at Frescati SC entrance with this display of BYD cars on promotion. Read the sign on the plinth in the background!
The reed warbler raising cuckoo chicks in her nest is a metaphor for how #datacentres feed off our society. As seen on BBC Spring Watch tonight.
@corkcycling will cycle along the Cork Harbour Greenway (eventually to be part of Lee to Sea) to meet the rowing boats racing up to the city, and we’ll cycle back alongside them.
The usual road works control Irish style. Shut the cycle track, but no warning to drivers not to overtake along this zone. We need reform of road works manual for #ActiveTravel.
Once again a road authority sanctions the blocking of a cycle track by a road construction crew without the provision of a safe protected passage for bike users. Not even a sign to warn drivers against overtaking of a rider. Frescati Rd. N31 outbound. @darraghobrientd.bsky.social
Great to have this survey. As I keep saying our so-called road safety agencies are failing to protect #ActiveTravel users. 53% of respondents experienced a close overtake. How many FCPNs issued for this serious offence?
I tried out the new very short stretch of the river Dodder greenway today along Fitzwilliam Quay to Londonbridge Road. A bit confusing there when I want to use the L-bank route.
Another mini-market on traffic congested Morehampton Rd. D4 in the former AIB bank building. Do planners think of the traffic generated here when it fronts a 24/7 bus/cycle so there is no parking, not even for deliveries?
The national promotion of flying continues in a #fuelcrisis #climatecrisis with this one & a similar one on @latelateshow.rte.ie last night.
A view of some of the farm machinery blockade of O’Connell St. & Eden Quay last bight. The framing in the poster forgets that we import most of our foodstuffs along with provender for our farm animals! We grow/produce remarkably little for home consumption. This is big agri-business speaking.
This road marking has no legal effect as a speed limit at #Sandymount Green without a 30 km/h road sign too.
Rental bikes strewn across pavement on Serpentine Avenue. D4 close to shops and Meta HQ. Local Cllrs a better way to manage rental bikes has to be found.
in #Ireland, Health & Education sectors continue to be characterised by high sick leave patterns. Is anyone asking questions? @1goodtern.bsky.social @brownecfm.bsky.social tinyurl.com/y8r3ccwm
Walked across the Tom Clarke bridge last Saturday on way to see ‘Ocean’ film, but my is it a scary place for a pedestrian particularly if others jostling beside you. And still no upgrade of the Point roundabout, so no pedestrian crossing on it. Not good enough. @dublincity.bsky.social
We went to see Sir. David Attebborough’s ‘Ocean’, with live orchestra accompaniment @ulsterorchestra.bsky.social. A story about the massive world-wide industrial scale over-fishing with hope that we act to create #MPAs with no bottom trawling. youtu.be/cIZAdCtKT_g
Water bottle from Italy with no obvious deposit return code or else it’s in the bar code but anyway it is rejected by our machines. No wonder the unclaimed deposits pile up here.
Why hanging around airports & flying are not good for your respiratory health. Was at Bergamo airport yesterday afternoon (15h-17h) & then on @ryanairofficial.bsky.social flight to DUB (17h30-21h50). Unhealthy rebreathed air everywhere.
I've been looking at the latest sero-positivity data for #SarsCoV2 antigens in the population determined from @irishblood16.bsky.social & clinical laboratory specimens. What is striking is the absence of any children <18 in the sampling regime seroepi-hpscireland.hub.arcgis.com
An #OriginGreen product that gives the impression that it’s made from milk from a single dairy farm. Not quite true: “and the products that were once made using milk produced from Glenilen Farm’s 55 dairy cows now also included milk from neighbouring farms, all within a 20-mile radius”.
Even ‘saloon’ cars seem to becoming bigger & thus taking up more road space on roads that aren’t getting any wider. I’ve seen a few Porsche Macan’s around that seem to fill the road. Width (including mirrors) 2,165 mm But bike users just wear the #HiVisFail & it’ll be grand.
Always read the label! Tesco blackcurrant jam has a Blas label, but is made with #EU blackberries.
Anglesea Rd., D4 always has traffic backed up when vehicles permitted to enter the RDS via Anglesea gate for event parking. Clearly Dublin City Council failed to design for this so solution is for RDS to cease use of this gate for events.
I trundled through Barrow St., D4 to assess the public realm upgrade now that it’s completed. Clearly still not enough loading spaces for trucks!
Ah come on folks at Moby & Bleeper you’ll have to do better than this with pavements routinely cluttered.
