This Kaka has been hanging out in the old pear tree gnawing on a broken branch for ages. So hard to get any decent pics of it. Such a gorgeous deep copper underside 🪶 totally unfussed about having us standing there looking at it. We usually see flocks but a solo visit today

My late dad had quite a lot of them in his garden (Timaru, NZ). It’s the only place I’ve ever seen them growing here at all. They’re quite cool plants

Yay first day wfh since there new back fence was constructed. Previously there was a broken corrugated iron fence that was held up by a cable ratcheted to our neighbours tree. It would flop around on windy days & make me nervous
So what’s for dinner tonight? Ours looks like it’s a stuffed baked kumara, but is really a chicken breast stuffed with pesto, dried apricot & spinach all wrapped in bacon (it split along the top in the oven). We’re going to have it with a couscous, feta and pea salad
