I think the biggest challenge to my mental health across my career has been the change, that all freelancers have noticed, between commissioners turning projects down and a 'no' being represented by complete silence.
It's understandable from the
commissioners' point of view. That way they never get bad reactions from freelancers, they never get to be the exec that turned down the Beatles, and if that freelancer has a hit elsewhere, hey, they've still got a project from them, right here!
But the silence feels, to a freelancer, like we're beneath notice, that our actions are meaningless. And we don't feel we can take those ghosted pitches elsewhere. I bet it's finished off quite a few people more vulnerable than I am. It's time to speak up about it.

In the kitchen the breakfast stove gave a hissing sigh and ejected from its warm interiors eight pieces of perfectly browned toast, eight eggs sunny-side up, sixteen slices of bacon, two coffees, and two cool glasses of milk.
Today is August 4, 2026, said a second voice from the kitchen ceiling, 'in the city of Allendale, California!
It repeated the date three times for memory's sake. Today is Mr Featherstone's birthday. Today is the anniversary

The series was unveiled as part of Sky's latest children's TV slate for content releasing across Sky Kids platforms this year. We first told you about Paris & Pups over two years ago.
Inspired by Paris Hilton's real-life pets, Paris & Pups follows 12-year-old Paris Star and her five pups, the Sweetie Squad, as they embark on adventures from their luxurious penthouse home.
