Had a good game put on by @cakeweaver.bsky.social earlier in the week before playing travel battles the next day
Just got to touch up the flesh and muskets then these are ready for a wash. Going to get them done before I do the French
After 2 weeks of holiday hand felt different so had to overcome that for first session. Did all the musket barrels and bayonets with a pen so that was easy. The red however took a lot lot longer than it should
Three battalions undercoated. Annoyingly the sword I mended broke again. Any advice appreciated on how to repair a sword that’s snapped in two would be very appreciated
I get much less painted over the summer as the rhythm of life changes with the kids on hols. So last chance to get some prep in… 2 battalions of French 1 battalion of ottomans 2 deployment points FIW Rangers Now have I got enough cans of undercoat 🤔
As he’s been on TV a fair bit recently I thought I’d dig my Count Binface out. I got mine in 2021 when I think it was a charity miniature for the NHS? Better paint job that I remember! Was my stargrave captain 🤣
Got the remaining 14 of these done so they are rounded out now. Will do the bases in a big batch later in the month
These are eBay roses. You get a mix of sizes so work for 28mm and 15mm. I tried growing miniature ones but it was no good 🤣
My redoubt enterprise fences after their glow up. Missing pieces and breakages before. It took up until the flock to look right but pretty pleased with these now
Got the cabbages done so the Russian village buildings are now complete for 1812. Will use in some games of Sharp practice over the summer #spreadthelard
Back in hobby space after guests have left so got some quick highlights on the last of the acw
Need to vacate my hobby room for a guest tomorrow, so quickly got the ACW base coats finished and an ink wash on. Cabbagea undercoated and base coated.
‘Cabbages’ (obviously) have arrived to finish my Russian houses. I’ve got a bag somewhere already but couldn’t find them 🤷♂️
Base coats 95% done on these Union troops to fill the gaps in what I’ve done to date
Fences got an agrax wash (cobbled together from dregs, medium and water to go the distance as I’d forgot I was pretty much out). In fact some of the dregs were from an original big pot 😬 The last of the gold. This better work…
Some work on the fences. 1. Green and Ochre blobs added to stones 2. Fences drybrushed in old wood, stones drybrushed in stone grey 3. Contrast paints used to wash individual stones and rails A wash next to tie together before drybrushing back up
Interestingly, one base plastic perrys and one metal perrys. Before painting the plastics looked slimmer with smaller heads. They look the same after painting. Is it a visual illusion before or after?
Got these finished this month but 14 figures short of completing the units. So have ordered a couple of sprues to finish
Man not looking forward to the nose dive in breakfasts when you hit 50s! They’re still better than cardboard packing strips in your late 40s
(2/2) here’s the before and after plus a final highlight to roofs. Couldn’t get the light the same - subtle but in the flesh makes a big difference. Would normally do a flirty wash now but think this is enough. Base now…
(1/2) Yeah arm doesn’t feel right in skin today, brain injury fun! So dry brushing. Hit the buildings with the weathering - it takes guts to dry brush bright green on but it works (not all over).
