Just another person trying to get through this thing we call life. Long time podcaster of little note, role player, gamer, lapsed game critic, teller of tall tales.
For the sake of cleaning up the #throwbackthursday feed just a tiny bit, here's my contribution. Me and Phil Jupitus from about 20 years back. He took the pic, so no blaming me for his expression.
@twopointstudios.bsky.social Currently trying to log into your website and being driven half mad by this paradox. I have an account under MonkeyMagicEden. When I try to log in, it says the user does not exist, yet when I try to register it says the name is in use. What's going on?
Shout out to whoever gave the green light on the endless pop culture references too. Simpsons, Futurama, Tim and Eric, Monty Python, Always Sunny, South Park, Warhammer, Gundam and so many more amusing winks and nudges. Even Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo, the most clowned on film title of all time.
My Time At Sandrock is an under appreciated gem of a game. There's a depth to the characters and storyline that no other builder/farming game has, even Stardew Valley. Real humanity, honesty but not despair over the hard parts of life. And so much silly humour.
Looking back on Front Mission 3 from 1999. Hard not to see current events partially predicted in some of the plot beats. There might not be a unification in reality, but the whole "withholding aid" power mongering tactic is entirely accurate.
Avowed's character creator is also a high point. The choices for the godlike growths make for some truly unusual characters. Might be the prettiest version of me I've ever made.
The Pip Boy light provided a logical light source in Fallout. Starfield gives your character magical flashlight eyes. Millions spent on developing the game and no one spotted this easily fixed oversight.
Just burst out laughing at a volume that my neighbours will definitely have noticed after stumbling onto this scene in Baldur's Gate 3. I ruined their smash...
So glad I happened to have supped a potion allowing me to speak to animals before wandering into this thing's lair.
The customization is excellent and so varied. My only tiny gripe is that trying to get the right amount of grey in my hair and beard was impossible. Still, it's a pretty good representation of what I actually look like for a change.
Not intolerable. Now to find a film to watch so I don't just sit here watching it update.
