Enjoyed a rare #CleanAir day at the beach but #wildfires continue to burn & the next few days the wind will shift
And just like that, the smoke rolled in &we cannot just go for a walk without an #N95 . It came last night while our windows were still open & we quickly shut them, turned up our air filters which scrubbed the air in 4 minutes flat!
@mayor.nyc.gov during LA fires #Angelenos were breathing clean air in shelters thanks to people building #corsirosenthalbox filters en masse. I'm sure New Yorkers would have loads of fun building these together as a community event! They can be built by children ! @corsiaq.bsky.social
No aircon. 3 layers of overlapping *outdoor* shade cloth prevent direct sunlight from entering upper floor closed windows & we avoid the #GreenhouseEffect. The difference between outside temps vs inside is remarkable: outside temperature 33C vs inside 25.2 C. #Vancouver #heatwave

Of course there are multiple ways to assess learning & a paper worksheet is only one way. There are AI proof activities, like hands on labs. Our classrooms are better when students think for themselves
Students examined primary & secondary wing feathers during tutorial time. We checked the USA fish & Wildlife feathers atlas which suggested that these might be Great horned owl & cackling goose. Windows were wide open with exhaust on & I had only 6 in class
👀 UBC wants to equip k-12 teachers in "GenAI literacy" ,apparently. Quite apart from the irony of that term, there can be no "thoughtful, inclusive,responsible" pedagogy that teachers are not already trained to do without AI The climate impacts cannot justify its use in #bced I will not use it

My #CleanAir classroom with aranet4 & Lego . Windows are wide open & exhaust on so near the windows, the CO2 levels are practically like outdoors . My levels are usually between 600-800ppm in the middle of classroom
