Nashvillian. Interested in Nashville politics, roller derby, reading, drinking strong black tea all day long. Got a new job so the disclaimer: opinions are my own, not my employer's, obviously.
3 years ago I submitted 9 ideas for Nashville's participatory budgeting. The one promised to our neighborhood was funded but Metro Parks is refusing to complete it. Frustrating when I had so much hope three years ago.
My area of town finally got benches no thanks to the city and this is what TDOT does to them. You'd think it was an emergency they were so fast. Meanwhile, they just added their half-assed improvements to our feeder street after YEARS of begging.
I made this homemade stove for hot tea and the power came back two sips into my wonderful drink.
Another biased MNPS survey. I am willing to accept any of these minor inconveniences (and many more that are conspicuously absent) to save teen lives and futures. But I am FORCED to say I won't accept some in order to submit the survey. Yet those who want the status quo are allowed to say so. BIAS
Here MNPS goes being unserious about this school start time thing, sending this text an hour before the meeting. This is the first notification I have seen.
I was glad that *finally* @freddieoconnell.bsky.social and MNPS are considering later high school start times until I saw the biased, poorly constructed survey sent out. 1. The earliest time question gives 7:50 AM as the latest response even though 8:30 AM is the earliest recommeded by experts.
Re-watching Maude and it is really so good, Bea Arthur is stellar, Esther Rolle is under appreciated. But Maude is supposed to be 47 here (Arthur was actually ~50) and Rue McClanahan was in her 30s!!!!!
We had an awesome time in the parade & then festival, but the extra walking took a toll on my old body. Hated to see workers walking extra & possibly late to work. Transit app had no info about detours.
Why were cars allowed to drive through 8th & Broadway around 9 AM Saturday but those of us on the bus were dumped at 2nd & Korean Vets & forced to walk an extra 17 minutes. 🦞 Nashville, this is why people avoid the bus!! @freddieoconnell.bsky.social
We in Tennessee executed a man yesterday. Out here in what was a beautiful day, we waited as these killing fields took another life.
This sidewalk has been approved since my daughter was riding the city bus in middle school and walking this dangerous stretch. She's now graduating college in a couple of weeks, making it hilarious that NDOT is celebrating meeting the decade long deadline. Come on Nashville. 🦞
Call a crackhead? I think I will. I actually had an unhoused crackhead save me from being assaulted by a man. Meanwhile, when someone called the cops, they argued over whose jurisdiction it was instead of rushing to my side like the crackhead did. But go on...
Just plugged in the zip code 37214 and its not in 5 at all. Looks split between 6 and 7.
This is so weird...the bottom right hand corner says "identify as." Seen in Southeast Nashville.
Also, the highlighted is an incomplete sentence. They probably went to high school too early and missed English.
This is absolutely RIDICULOUS. High schoolers are supposed to go to to summer Promising Scholars/credit recovery at SEVEN AM! Have they met a teen? Read ANY of the science? Do they think the teens who NEED credit recovery can deal with school that early? Jez, Nashville sucks. Truly sucks. 🦞
I'll be sending this to everyone who says I'm being divisive by not welcoming those who harm me. From @nakedpastor.bsky.social
This is the dumbest reply from the dumbest senator. Marsha Blackburn's sad sack intern copy and pasted to the point they couldn't even keep the fonts consistent. They spewed nonsense about refugees needing to enter legally WHEN THEY HAVE BEEN SINCE 1980!
The president isn't going to tell you about all the ways he is constantly backing down and flip flopping on Canadian tarriffs.
Both Andy Ogles & Marsha Blackburn's online content forms are hetrosexist, only allowing straight couples to contact them (unless one happens to be a doctor).
Gov. Lee (TN) is the only person I have contacted who has such a short limit to public comments. When I got multiple errors and no confirmation, I called and found the same thing--the message taking system cut me off before my could finish my brief thoughts. Ridiculous.
Would LOVE to log in,Metro, but you think reporting issues needs the security of fort knox.
I'm so annoyed. I've spent the last 15 minutes trying to report 15+ bollards down on Nolensville and Hub deletes everything I typed and locks my account. 🦞
This is how scheduling works in my family. Better lay claim to October 2025 or else someone else will.
This is a secondary route. Completely covered in snow and at the time completely blocked by Metro Water. Phone died before I could pan to the right for the scores of joyous sleders.
Y'all know I'm liberal, but he was holding a cane with one hand and a Bible with the other. He didn't have a hand free. They do so much ridiculous stuff we should save our outrage for legit things.
