Great to see St Paul Mayor Kaoly Her and Rep Leigh Finke at St Anthony neighborhood’s 4th parade! Also I ran my first race in almost 2 years, a crazy hilly 2-mile loop in under 16 minutes, making me one of the fastest 55+ women to ever run this race (& prob faster than any ICE officer) Happy 4th!
Feeling grateful for the vibrant people of Minneapolis for another Twin Cities Pride. I was glad to hear that LGBTQIA+ people are moving here from other states. They bring their creativity and resilience.
I’m in Duluth where Grandma’s is in full swing and my guy is trying again to beat my marathon PR of 3:22. Seeing some Save the BWCA shirts! Thanks supporters! Been up since 4 running around. Runners, when you ask if someone’s running and they say they’re spectating, don’t say aw, say OMG THANK YOU.
Why did hundreds of people gather at Lake of the Isles today? To watch the yearly sharpening of the giant pencil, of course. Who can really believe our protesters are paid when afterwards, people are thrilled to stand outside for two hours yelling “sharpen it, sharpen it!”
The local Pumphouse creamery’s black raspberry is my favorite flavor and will likely run out soon, so let’s have ice cream for lunch, because we deserve it.

The Minnehaha bunny’s having a big day, with as many as 8 people at a time climbing onto him for Easter photos. Usually he’s wearing flowers for the event, but this year he just has his whistle. I love living here. Happy Easter and happy sunny day, everyone.

This morning’s Hot Dash 5&10K featured hundreds of strong runners. Here’s my guy, top 10% overall, first flannelshirt. Hot indeed today, a record high, but some fool said “early spring” out loud, so now for sure we’ll get another blizzard in the next month.
Outside MOA it’s looking pretty brilliant right now. Anyone get a better photo, maybe lakeside?
Some scenes from the Women’s March Mpls. I’m glad I went, though I ran out of steam and had to turn back early. Grateful for all the volunteers, especially the one who gave me some earplugs I badly needed. The Casa Maria food drive was a success too. 💙neighbors 💙

Vigil at Powderhorn Park today for Renee Good. I wanted to stay longer, and was warm enough, but couldn’t tolerate the helicopter noise. My ears are ringing and my head aches. I guess it’s time for a day of rest.
What’s more Minnesotan than bake sales? These bright, beautiful students have been raising money on a regular basis for the Student Success Center and the Muslim Student Association. U of M students are the best of the best. They belong here.
And now for something completely different. Shop local! Today I got goodies at the St Paul Dragon Star. Produce is great and the price on mushrooms can’t be beat. The snacks are fun. Little pieces of tofu or seitan in spicy sauce in little pouches. Dumplings galore.
Creative too. My guy timed it and said the parade lasted almost a half hour.
Just moments ago the parkway was TAKEN OVER by winter cyclists. At first I thought hundreds, but they just kept coming. Thousands and thousands! I almost cried. I’m so dang proud of MN right now.
My neighborhood is Page, the quiet creekside part of Mpls. A neighbor started a group. We have meetings and share actions anyone can take. There’s no pressure to patrol, but everyone is prepared. Today’s meeting was largely about how to become even more organized. Yep, bunch of radical lunatics.
U of M students and union members walked out today at noon and gathered on the plaza where “ICE OUT” echoed off Northrop. Some of them might be tired after another night of keeping ICE awake outside the Hilton Homesuites 2 last night. 💙 Love these kids 💙
