I am really starting to think there is some massive campaign on the English-speaking internet to spread the stupidest rumors about Japan. It seems like a lot of them want to keep "othering" Japan. I have theories.

Today's the last day of Gion Matsuri, so I had one more crack at painting more yamaboko. Three of them are fune, shaped like ships. I painted the second and third on the right when they had just completed reassembling the hoko and they did a "test run" up and down the street.

I just read a goofy N3 Japanese article about amusement parks. My first time trying to read an N3, which is intermediate. Definitely understood the gist. Pretty proud of it, considering I've been self-studying for uhhh... 1.5 years? It ain't an easy language 😅

I went to speak to some students at Ritsumeikan's Peace Museum about Palestine. They have Osamu Tezuka's phoenix on the wall. It's perfect to me. There are a lot of angry, awful people in the world, but so many others also give me hope.

My new work is installed at Housenin in Ohara! It will be up until May 3. There are also art installations at Jakkoin, the Ohara cultural center, and Doi Shibazuke. It's also beautiful in that area! 私の新作は大原の宝泉院に展示されています！5月3日までご覧いただけます。寂光院や大原文化センター、土井しば漬けでも連動したアートインスタレーションが行われています。そのエリアは美しい!
