Congratulations @toni.bsky.team! Here’s our official reaction👇🥳 We also have little cat-shaped presents for the whole team when you’re next in Europe 🐈
We launched 26 days ago — remember that? It still feels like it was barely yesterday 😘 Today we hit 100,000 monthly active users! ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND OF YOU. And we don't even have native apps yet. We love you! Thank you! This is just the beginning of something mu.
mu trusted verifiers have verified over 4,000 accounts in less than a month - more than 50% of the total verified by Bluesky in 3 years. On mu you see both sets of verification, so you get more authenticity signals. Our goal is for the vast majority of mu users to be verified.
It’s Monday and we’re brining you two little improvements to start the week. - a copy username button in a user’s profile menu, and - a companion cat to keep you company on mu 🐈🐈⬛😺
One thing that's interesting is that this is also better business. The incumbents only work with rent and moats, which means that very little value gets circulated. With more open flows, we create a better digital economy. (Upcoming @modalfoundation.eurosky.social work on this.)
So we have to *show* what it means, by shipping both the infrastructure and *several* apps. The endgame is people shipping apps in days, with much lower content and user acquisition costs, delivering a unified, safe, but most of all fun experience of plenty of novel social apps to people. 🪩💃🕺
Most people hear "infrastructure" and they think of big physical things. Maybe they think of cloud and data centres, with some AI to sound hip. But for the most part digital infrastructure is incomprehensible. And "social media infrastructure" is even worse!
Good question from @gui.do — the answer is that it's about our mission. We aren't doing "tech monopoly except in Europe." We're building a new model for the digital economy, and not just for social: shared infrastructure supporting a competitive ecosystem of actors. But it's hard to explain…
