The date for Int'l Non-Binary People's Day (today!) was chosen because it's exactly in between Int'l Women's Day and Int'l Men's Day, and...that's cute. But it could be misconstrued as reinforcing a binary understanding of gender that many of us reject entirely. Gender is more than a spectrum!

I discovered this weekend that there's a fourth book out in Elana K. Arnold's Bat series, featuring an autistic kid with a special interest in animals, and it's as good as the first three. 😊 (Apparently it came out two months ago, but I don't work for Scholastic anymore, I'm out of the loop!)

Apple's is...technically kosher, I guess, though I'm not sure one would be able to tell at the size it's normally displayed at; the central flame is just slightly higher than the others. The branches are non-uniform in width, which isn't disqualifying, but it's weird. (4/5)

Looking through Emojipedia, the equivalent Google emoji (used on most Android devices) gets it right. There's a clear visual distinction between the main line and the shamash. This is my favorite of the bunch. (2/5)
Today I discovered that the Windows menorah emoji isn't actually kosher. The problem is that the shamash, or helper candle—often, as in this case, in the center—is supposed be at a different height than the others. If they're all on the same level, it just looks like we're on the 9th night. (1/5)
The new Festival of the Living Rooms system requires you to sign up for their system in order to see anything or participate. Getting INTO their system just requires email notification. Getting OUT of the same system requires a government ID.
