#littlecaroftheday 1121 is another classic from my youth. This 67 GTO has great Hot Wheels stance and features a fun blend of hot rod vibes with a traditional Chinese dragon. This car was paired with the previously featured 64 Continental with similar graphics as part of the 03 “Dragon Wagons” set
Another top down ride for the summer weather, #littlecaroftheday 1438 is a Karmann Ghia. This rarer Type 34 version features different styling and later Type 3 running gear than the more frequently seen Type 14. I do love the 14, but I think the 34 edges it out in a beauty contest.
The Typerrrrr #littlecaroftheday 745 is a Civic Type R, the last one to be forbidden fruit for the US, as we would finally get our hands on the successor FK8 generation. This FK2 retains a more egg-like hatchback shape much like its predecessors though, and the color only lends to that vibe.
Corvette Summer with #littlecaroftheday 377. When the C7 debuted I wasn’t quite sold on the new angular look compared to the C5 and 6c but once I had the chance to see on in person, I felt I really “got it”. I still think the no frills of the base Stingray is the nicest looking of the bunch as well.
Aircooled Action for #littlecaroftheday 1292, this 993 GT2. This one comes in a very Hot Wheels blue and orange color scheme that would probably go 50/50 on getting you props for commitment or making them hurl at the thought of your resale value tanking from members of your local PCA chapter.
#littlecaroftheday 287 brings us this lovely Chevelle SS, powered by the venerable 396 Big Block. I really like how this cast sits low and the silver shows off the flowing body lines. This car originally had black stripes down the sides but the tampo was pretty weak & got scratched so off they came.
24 Integra: very light action, comfy, but small in the back seat 22 WRX: heavier action, felt a bit cheaper overall, couldn’t find a good spot with the manual seat, this example was pretty beat 26 Mazda 3: this one was loaded instead of the FWD 6MT I would get but was great minus the small back seat
Did a few more test drives today. It helped eliminate a few things but I think it also complicated things a bit more unfortunately. I still have a few things to try but the envelope may have to shift one direction or another.
It is Ferrari Friday with #littlecaroftheday 540. This 599 GTB comes in the obligatory red, but uses a tan interior piece which is perhaps my favorite combination if you’re going to insist on Rosso for your prancing horse. This is another Ferrari cast from before the recently ended Hot Wheels hiatus
#littlecaroftheday 1099 is something probably more suited for Kyusha Wednesday, with this classic Skyline 2000 GT. I love vibe of these, especially in this style, and Hot Wheels really captured it well. The newer small-diameter 4-spoke wheels and Real Riders with stretch tires really sells the look.
A double French pull! #littlecaroftheday 1431 brings us something a bit newer, utilitarian, and more conventional with this Renault Kangoo. This facelift 2nd gen is when they began to look more stern, so it’s a shame it wasn’t a 1st gen which has a cheerful Twingo-like face.
First test drive complete: K4 Hatch GT Turbo. It was nice, great color, roomy inside, pleasant materials, not super peppy, wide screen dash would take some getting used to. I like it but I think it will fall short against some competitors that will offer more fun factor w/ the same creature comforts
Feeling French for #littlecaroftheday with 408 a Citroën DS. This funky sedan is full of quirks like C-pillar turn signals and hydraulic suspension that are exemplary of classic French car vibes. They’ve made a comeback in the Matchbox lineup so hopefully I can add some more to my collection.
This is rather slick, I’m almost second guessing if I’m cool enough for a red interior
#littlecaroftheday prototype with 561, this Mustang II. This 2nd concept from 1963 was a drastic departure from the first tiny roadster with mid-mounted V4, but much closer to the final version to hit the road. This HW was going to be the basis of a model kit, but I haven’t made much progress.
A muscle car of the German variety for #littlecaroftheday 1025, this CLK63 AMG Black. While that edition name might be a bit misleading as this one is in a lovely silver with a hint of blue metallic, it doesn’t lack the AMG oomf with it’s 500hp V8.
We made it home 30min ago, winds blowing down road work signs, trash, dirt everywhere. Putting my VW into the garage & a tree branch came down off the neighbors side on power lines, dumped sparks all over the alley. Everyone’s setting off fireworks before the rain picks up. Front is still 20min out.
Probably way more work than what I’ll get out of it but I figure as clean as can be is my best bet whenever trade-in time finally comes around.
Red White and Blue for #littlecaroftheday 42, the iconic AMC Rebel Machine. This one features the classic livery with some period drag-racing inspired graphics added. This premium came as a 2-pack with the orange Javelin from a bit ago and features widened steelies and white letter tires.
#littlecaroftheday 498 is a way to get the family around fast, the blower-equipped Dodge Charger Hellcat. While it’s probably a bit excessive, I do enjoy that a supercharged full size sedan actually managed to made it to market.
#littlecaroftheday 1006 is just a few shades off some serious Reddit cred, checking the manual, diesel, and wagon options. This Mercedes 300TD is ready to sip some used vegetable oil into the post apocalyptic sunset.
Complete with a Production Order from the Central Office #littlecaroftheday 282 is ready to bend the rules and pound the pavement. This 1969 COPO Camaro cast differs from other HW 1st gens with a non-RS grille, larger exhaust pipes molded into the base, and stance stretched to fit bigger wheels
#littlecaroftheday 1464 is the Legendary Little Guy, the Mk1 VW GTI. It’s hard to believe that a car as universally beloved as the Beetle would have a worthy successor, but this car has seen and done it all just as much as its predecessor did; and in many cases, they haven’t stopped to this day.
