Saw this box score and wondered: how exactly does one earn a save in a 13-1 blowout? Turns out, if you pitch the final three or more innings, regardless of score, you get a save. Ray Burgos fulfilled that exact requirement and thus earned his first save of the season. Baseball is weird.
Whenever I go for a walk and encounter someone I don't know, my default greeting is "Hey neighbor!" Which means that everyone I meet thinks I'm either Fred Rogers, Wilson from Home Improvement, or Frank Booth.
A little literary smack talk in the middle of Farewell, My Lovely involving a character Marlowe has nicknamed "Hemingway" #booksky
@meganabbott.bsky.social You wrote it forever ago, but I only finished it last night and spent today with that ending still reverberating. Whatever I read next has a hard act to follow.
Just me and my new best friend, Walter Mosley. His hand rests on my (now signed) first edition of Little Scarlet. In front of him is my (now signed) first edition of Cinnamon Kiss, which I am currently reading (hence the bookmark). He could not have been kinder. Go ahead and meet your heroes.
@wmboyle4.bsky.social I'm a little late to the party, but god damn! A banger from start to finish. Beautifully done, sir.
If you have to tell people you are a smart voice, you are not a smart voice.
A TBR so good I hardly know where to start. And yes, if you would like to receive a Japanese woodblock print note card, I will definitely send you one.
Breaking me out of a reading slump in a BIG way, thanks @vondoviak.bsky.social
My pulpy historical noir, Turnpike Confidential, is on display in the Library of Virginia bookstore, part of the "House to Highway" exhibit that runs until Feb. 28, 2026. Alongside more respectable fare, of course... www.lva.virginia.gov/events/exhib...
Scammers, I do appreciate your need to sell me overpriced services I don't need. But in the future, please take a moment to make sure you get the title of my book right.
Your semi-regular reminder that, yes, I wrote a book and it is available for purchase in at least one bookstore. Now back to the world on fire.
What's the best kind of mail? Why, book mail of course! Looking forward to it @cterlson.bsky.social
Confusing things in this life: Barabbas was the prisoner pardoned by Pontius Pilate instead of Jesus. Carrabba's is a chain of Italian eateries based in Florida. I feel it is important to keep them straight, though the idea of a chain restaurant based on the life of Barabbas is amusing.
Confusing things in this life: A Jeroboam is a large wine bottle that holds the equivalent of four standard wine bottles. A Jerboa is hopping desert rodent with large ears and a tail common to North Africa and Asia. Hope this helps.
Y'ALL! This book is the damn bomb! @christafaust.bsky.social www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
@steveweddle.bsky.social dude, this was on Jeopardy! last night. Sadly, not an entire category devoted to your fine book, but to actual counties located inside the U.S. Opportunity missed.
Author event or monster truck rally? Okay, it's an author event. But it's tonight, Thursday Thursday Thursday! BE there!
@steveweddle.bsky.social just started this morning, enjoying immensely. "Chateaubrioche" gave me my first real laugh of the week.
@lollardfish.bsky.social thanks for putting this list together, I look forward to meeting more writers on Bsky. My book will be released on Jan. 10, 2025.
