I'm doing a keynote about AI at an agency event on Friday and I've title my talk 'Beyond the Mediocrity Machine'. So much talk about efficiency and productivity, so little about how it can be a true creative and thought partner.
Almost a decade ago I wrote a report for the IPA on the Future of Agencies, and used a framework to define a key dynamic for the future: systems and empathy. I've found myself thinking a lot about this now we're truly in the age of AI. onlydeadfish.substack.com/p/fish-food-...
I've been working with the BBC this week on how they use AI. I love the BBC. What it does and how it does it is needed more than ever and the licence fee is exceptionally good value for what we get and what it does for the country
Did some teaching today at Venice International University. Such an amazing place. History + great architecture + lovely food
In Derby for a day. Took this pic of this characterful building - an old department store that's seen better days. But wow this could be turned into the most amazing venue
Keynoting the CIPD Change Management conference this morning #awaitinganaudience #grey
Such a gorgeous day for a ride out today. Some hills, some coffee and lots of sun
I'll be doing the keynote at the CIPD Change Management Conference, talking about adaptive and agile approaches to managing change. If you're coming along do say hi. #cipdCM
My favourite kind of day. Outside, in a beautiful place, cold, but wonderfully sunny
I really believe that AI agents are going to upend everything so I've been doing a lot of research to form an opinion on where this is going and how to prepare for the change. The result is a presentation - a manifesto (of sorts) www.canva.com/design/DAGfe...
I moderated this fascinating event this morning launching what I think may be the most interesting piece of research I've ever been involved with. The topic - how marketing operating models are evolving. There has never been more change in this area - report out on Thursday so look out for that.
Unbelievably, this was written by Carl Sagan in 1995, for his book 'The Demon Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark'. Remarkable.
This is one of the most brilliant articulations of just how difficult it is to predict the future - a 2001 memo from Lin Wells, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, to President George W Bush titled 'Thoughts for the 2001 Quadrennial Defense Review'
In order to shift out of our current paradigm, to truly break open our assumptions and think creatively, we need to travel psychologically onlydeadfish.co.uk/2025/01/15/b...
