You're saying this as if Falco isn't just a completely different guy.
I'm fine with him being a little sillier, a little more Miyamoto-esque, but it's just that, every expression is played up to an obnoxious degree and it makes him feel less, how do you say, solid. That and also, his snout got absolutely obliterated, he got pug'd. He got Modern Tails'd.
I was cooking up a big DK Bananza thread, and I might still finish it, but for now I'll just say. I do not like DK's design in this game. Some of the faces he pulls look very very bad, even for the standards of THIS design. He's way too cutesy, He doesn't feel like DK at all.
One this something that really annoys me about Rachet & Clank is that I think Rachet's first design is the best one and in LITERALLY EVERY SUBSEQUENT GAME they stick him in some fuckass armor or this stupid ass overdesigned shirt that's way too similar to his fur color. It pisses me off bro
I had a lot of issues with new digital circus but I can't lie and say it wasn't investing. I doodled this in a rage.
I am of the belief that to be cool Sonic needs to be just a *liiiittle* angry always. Not like Shadow, moody angsty angry. But like righteous indignation angry. I feel like somewhere down the line we kinda typecast him to always be like a carefree jokester guy and that was a big mistake.
The Sonic 1 boxart is like, if a little inaccurate. But every subsequent boxart just exaggerate the worst aspects of the design more and more, almost defiantly. It feels defiant because they were specifically asked to fix his weird bow legged stance and make other changes and consistently did not.
Something that makes me upset is that in the American Sonic 1 commercial, Sonic is drawn like actually good and accurate, and then somewhere down the line they just absolutely fucked his shit up for zero reason. Even weirder is that the HONEY NUT CHEERIOS COMMERCIAL uses both designs for some reason
