Yeah I really enjoy how Marathon 2 use colourful visuals to portray aliens locations which is what I’ve adopted! And yeah the hud is like that cause you the player have a Guyver inspired armor so making the visor made of organic material just made sense to me.
I will conceal that the comparisons is not lost on me. I’m just not inspired by it is all cause it really all just an extension of what I was already doing prior to gamedev. I’m more so inspired by Metroid Fusion and Marathon 2.

I would have to redo a lot of lighting and environmental stuff since I obviously didn't design the game around HDR in mind at all. And yeah, also pretty hard when I don't have a HDR monitor myself. lol
If anything, this means I should check out the oldies I missed out on and some indies. I'd say the one big RPG that captivated me all the way through is Elden Ring + it's DLC.

Played through the Quake 2 PSX port thing and I really liked the colors. Felt like playing through a best of Quake 2 compilation and the Guardian and Makron fights were really cool.
