I am actually publishing a book titled "Famous Facial Hair of Civil Service Reform."
Publishing this Article also comes with the distinct privilege of being the first to publish this distinguished mustache.
@tphillips.bsky.social and I recently wrote about this issue. We also drafted an amicus brief that touched on it in Slaughter. As far as we are concerned, Slaughter did not resolve the conflict between the Take Care Clause and the removal power. We'll post an update on @lawfaremedia.org shortly.
Well... Slaughter certainly cured my writers block... Since Monday:
Well I guess we need to put the remainder of the research agenda on hold for the summer....
Embracing my inner APD and channeling @unlawfulentries.bsky.social and @johnadearborn.bsky.social at the National Archives
It took ten years but I have finally managed to get envenomated by something in the reef tank. My torts students will be so happy to know the hypotheticals have come true.
Wow. Just as the bourgeoisie hopes. Divide and conquer the proletariat.
Ten years ago today, I walked across the stage at Northrop Auditorium and received my JD. On Saturday, I get to stand on the same stage and read the names of the 2026 graduates (the first full cohort that I taught in law school). We have come full circle.
We rolled around in a dead rabbit and we are sad that we were forced to take a bath.
For a nice Sunday treat, couple this post with a cup of coffee and @profdanwalters.bsky.social's latest article. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....
Just make sure you protect your wallet if you find yourself in the Lego aisle for too long.
In lighter news, my colleagues and I took the opportunity to be roasted by our students in @umnlawschool.bsky.social's theater production: "Moot Girls"---a spoof on Mean Girls. Job well done to the T.O.R.T. students this year for another great performance.
Justice Kagan cites Spiderman as precedential so I think the other scholars are ignoring a large source of legal meaning.
I have been writing a essay about the hemorrhaging of government employees in Minnesota since 4:00am but I am now informed it is time to sit on the couch.
A year ago, I published a very long article about administrative capacity and execution of laws. If DOJ has ever needed to be in receivership, it would be now... (I don't think the Court would actually permit that. I'm just saying...) review.law.stanford.edu/wp-content/u...
Petitioner's attorney discusses how DHS tried to convince her client to self-deport after the Court had ordered his release and denied him access to an attorney.
The Court asks Voss whether DOJ received additional resources in anticipation of Operation Metro Surge. Voss says she doesn't know.
This is the moment when the AUSA asks to be put in contempt. She had tried to put in her resignation but they couldn't find a replacement.
