Absolutely rammed meeting on Brick Lane tonight opposing the data centre. This data centre brings no jobs, no homes and no benefits for the community. It’s being built for city traders and the community will pay the price. We have to stop it.
Right now, Manchester’s air is screwed because of wildfires caused by… climate change. If this 👇 is really the former mayor’s first act of office, I hope Manchester responds appropriately in its mayoral election on 30 July.
Politico understands trade deals. The rest of our media does not. It’s a key reason the government gets away with murder in these deals.
‘I’m struggling to understand why a department which is supposed to protect the NHS signed this US Pharma deal’ @laylamoran.bsky.social tears into the Health Sec. this morning. Neither he nor civil servants can explain what the deal will cost the NHS.
New figures from health experts show that Starmer’s Pharma deal with Trump will divert £45bn from essential services to pay Big Pharma - leading to more than 200,000 avoidable deaths of patients 👇👇👇
Helen Maguire says we have spent billions to appease the bully in the White House. Decisions about our NHS should not be made by a foreign government without so much as a vote in parliament.
Rachael Maskell says this debate should have happened months ago, not after the Pharma deal has already been signed. And without the impact assessment, we still don’t know what the cost will be or where it’s coming from.
John Mcdonnell says the government promised the NHS would not be on the table in a trade deal with Trump. But through this deal, it was.
Iqbal Mohamed quotes the tens of thousands of excess deaths likely to result from this deal as there’s no more money on the table, so it will inevitably lead to cuts elsewhere.
MPs criticising the US-UK Pharma Deal in the Commons this afternoon. This deal is a democratic scandal. @laylamoran.bsky.social up first saying the government has agreed to divert “an eye watering amount of NHS money to very large American corporations without a vote”
As bad as it was, I couldn’t have imagined the horror we’d be watching 20 years later. But I did know the movement would grow and grow. I knew the injustice would be brought to an end one day. And I still believe it. The movement is stronger today. And will win.
It was ethnic cleansing in slow motion. And Britain was selling weapons and providing political cover, as now. None of this started on 7 October. It’s been going on for decades.
I will never forget the schools and hospitals which has been bombed by the Israeli army and by fanatical groups of illegal settlers who were backed by the government. The hundreds of Palestinians kidnapped and imprisoned. The murder and torture of kids.
The Wall was tearing through the West Bank, separating towns and villages, friends and family from each other and controlling movement, at gunpoint, via militarised checkpoints, and strangling economic life. It was apartheid.
This weekend marks 20 years since I took Roger Waters to the West Bank. He was inspired by seeing graffiti on Israel’s Apartheid Wall, then just being built, which read “we don’t need no thought control.” 🧵
Absolutely brilliant first day of our youth summer school today. The next generation of activists 👇
A packed room for our Scottish activist conference. I’m overwhelmed by the amount of data centre activism going on in Scotland. Stop the Big Tech barons ✊
Brilliant to hear from Greta Thunberg at the Tech for Palestine conference today. She’s damning on climate activists who’ve chosen to ignore Palestine. There’s no neutrality in the face of genocide. You speak out… or you help the oppressor.
But of course. A major problem with our monarchy is precisely that it gives the government massive, undemocratic power. Trade is a democracy-free zone precisely because of royal prerogative. So why would they vet Andrew?
In December the government gave in to Trump. Their Pharma deal will cost the NHS billions of pounds - and patient lives. Today we’re joining @JustTreatment to launch legal action. Support us here 👇 www.crowdjustice.com/case/stop-nh...
‘The price the NHS pays for medicines will never be on the table for any trade agreement’ A government pledge made 3 months before they signed a trade agreement to change the price the NHS pays for medicines.
Insane. Both Spain and the Netherlands have left the energy charter treaty. But ISDS is literally a law unto itself. We need to abolish the whole system along with all sunset clauses. And why the British govt is signing new ones 🤯 www.iareporter.com/articles/dut...
Never let the most horrific war crimes get in the way of a good trade and security relationship.
The brilliant @danmcquillan.bsky.social and Nafeez Ahmed at a ‘standing room only’ session on Technofascism at Big Tech Empires
Now @meadwaj.bsky.social @nsrnicek.bsky.social and Anita Gurumurthy of @itforchange.bsky.social on AI and the Politics of Power at Big Tech Empires
We’re kicking off our national conference: Big Tech Empires and how we fight them.
Today we release new research showing the U.K. is the worst country in Europe when it comes to reinforcing the toxic corporate court system known as ISDS. 🧵 www.globaljustice.org.uk/news/uk-rank...
The government has given Trump the right to dictate how much of our NHS budget we hand over to Big Pharma. This is less a trade deal, more an agreement to pay tribute to Trump’s mates. Stop the Pharma deal! www.thebureauinvestigates.com/stories/2026...
So hang on, Britain isn’t involved in Iran but we’re providing support ‘invaluable’ to the US military. It’s one or the other John. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/uk-news...
