If you'll allow me to channel the pugilism of our intellectual forebearers for a moment:

And where precisely is it the democratic will of the chapter as an issue emerges? What is its material form?

Is in the sky floating freely? Is it held in a bank vault by you or me or [the co-chair]? Must the campaign committee chase it down with butterfly nets or put a dream catcher over each of their beds each night to capture it? Must they spend all their time voting, or send out a poll to every member? Must they pray to Saint Marx that a vision coalesces fast enough for an Instagram post the next day? All these things, they are idealism!

I say we must coagulate the vision in advance! Always recallable, always modifiable, but stable and bright. With direct lines of responsibility and a clear process for accountability. When someone implements a decision for the campaign, they must do so held firm in the knowledge that when they act for the chapter, for our campaign workers & volunteers, not because they slowed or stopped, but because we all had the opportunity speak on the matter in a way that firmly guides them. Only then will we be able to, as it is written, seize the commanding heights of power on behalf of the class, rather than simply sitting and endlessly debating circular motions.

Correlation in SLC-DSA’s race. Not the strongest, but definitely significant. Interestingly including condos in “density” reduces the correlation. There are a couple precincts with large retirement facilities that may be making the correlation weaker, as we did poorly there.
