I have a few bits of clothing that I got from Vinted (pre-loved first!) that have prompted the occasional compliment, but none more so than this absolute masterpiece. I have yet to wear this tee out the house and not have someone tell me they love it. And truly, how could you not love it? #StarTrek
There was a lot going on, to be fair!Of course, it was higher in the sky for us trying to view it on Ayr beach, but we didn’t exactly see enough of the Sun for it to be relevant…
Ready for the #SolarEclipse! (I do have eclipse glasses ready as well, but colanders work very well too and are a delightful way to share what you’re seeing if you’ve only got a pair of specs between you)
Someone spent TWENTY EUROS, TWENTY FUCKING EUROS, to make sure their literal dog was dressed and ready for the start of Stage 3 yesterday. GIVE US THE COMPLETE COVERAGE, YOU BASTARDS.
It’s very funny going for a run when the #CommonwealthGames is in town, because what do you mean I have to do the most mid 5km imaginable, with some of the world’s best athletes zipping past me, barely breaking a sweat? #RunningPunk #JogDivision
Given the effects of yesterday’s travel, the amount of mental effort it took to build the Zeiss Model II can only be described as Herculean, but are you kidding me with how cute these dinky starballs are?! L-R Konica-Minolta Infinium Σ, Zeiss Cosmorama, and a Zeiss Model II.
Yesterday involved two midnights, 22 hours of travel, 16 hours on planes, an empty middle seat, a crossing of the international date line, and a jaunt over Iceland. Japan was properly incredible, but it is also very nice to be home.
I was in no way prepared for the scale of this thing (the life-sized Unicorn Gundam on Odaiba Island) when I rounded a corner during yesterday’s long run. 4 miles that were apparently so sweaty a very kind stranger asked if I was OK. #RunningPunks #JogDivision
I actually don’t think I could have been much soggier if I’d just gone straight into the canal. 5km through Fukuoka before day 3 of #IPS2026. Nice to see the #RunningPunks heron’s Japanese cousin.
I did not watch the football last night (though I am pleased with the result), but clearly a lot of Glasgow did, because it was 6am run levels of quiet at 9.30am. 10 slightly sweaty kms ahead of my Copenhagen half marathon training block starting tomorrow. #RunningPunks #JogDivision
It’s always a good (read: totally excellent) day when the Scottish Space School and @unistrathclyde.bsky.social are in the house. It was lovely to welcome Mike Baker, Suni Williams, and Tricia Mack to work. Seeing how hyped the kids (and adults!) were was really special.
Running an hour behind, but absolutely here for the Pluto-isn’t-a-planet-ing, @chrislintott.bsky.social.
In further “very exciting emails” news, I somehow got into next March’s Lisbon Half via my first go at the ballot. That’s #SuperHalf number 5, booked!
The National Museum of Rural Life has the single most Studio Ghibli-looking cat I have seen in my entire life, I love it so much.
Woke up to two excellent emails this morning. The first confirmed that I did actually book my Shinkansen from Tokyo to Fukuoka correctly AND I’ve got the Mt. Fuji seat. The second confirmed that I’ll have some brilliant reading material on the train. Happy publication day, @drcarpineti.bsky.social!
Your semi-regular reminder to make that appointment to donate blood if you can. #DonateBlood
Taking 10 days off running wasn’t my favourite, and even though today was my second run in this week, it still felt like a slog. But it was a slog in the sun, with a detour to a new park, and it will get easier. #RunningPunks
There might be a theme to this year’s birthday celebrations…. #ArtemisII PS, I highly recommend having the Gen Z’s at work make you a birthday card.
I do think the cats are looking forward to a return to a normal bedtime routine following the splashdown. Thanks to a lot of the #ArtemisII milestones happening at gone midnight, they have been deeply put out over the last ten days.
This remains as funny on the 15m dome this morning as it was last night. #ArtemisII
It is completely wild to me that in November 2022, @andysaunders-1.bsky.social and I were in the IMAX at work setting up for his lecture, watching #ArtemisI approach the Moon, and today an actual crew aboard the spacecraft is getting much the same view. #ArtemisII
How do you know I’ve had to deal with Deutsche Bahn today? It’s hard to tell, but there’s definitely signs if you look for them.
Sure, gels are great for an energy boost, but have you ever met the actual @coachbennett.bsky.social 10km into a half marathon?
Cat tax in exchange for a whinge. It took me TWO HOURS this morning to travel to my doctor’s appointment, have the appointment, pick up a prescription, and travel home. My doctor is an 8 minute drive away, but because Glasgow’s buses FUCKING SUCK, that all took TWO HOURS.
I also went along to pay a visit to the brilliant @queerbritain.bsky.social. There was only one choice for a souvenir, I’m really excited to get stuck into Queer As Folklore by @sachacoward.bsky.social.
Part of the instructions for ways to celebrate Larissa were to get outside. I couldn’t find a lake or the sea, but I did find a canal and a big hill. Both of those felt good for the brain and the body. #RunningPunks
Today was a beautiful celebration of a beautiful human being. I’m never not going to be angry that we lost Larissa far, far too soon, but I’m also going to be eternally grateful that I was lucky enough to know her. I miss you, you big nerd.
Between @astroroyalscot.bsky.social’s session, and getting to virtually meet some of the beasts at @edinburghzoo.bsky.social and the Highland Wildlife Park, it’s been a mighty fine Tuesday!
