Also I find the comparison to Egad is kinda funny considering that is meant as a fun, fan-servicey reference in a MAINLINE MARIO GAME, a series that quite famously doesn’t really focus on storytelling all that much. Comparing Deltarune to a series like that is like comparing Apples to Broccoli.

Mr. Lee seems to have a knack for not getting the point of art. Years ago, he tried to sell Toby Fox on the idea of making a movie adaptation of Undertale, and I think there’s very few games that would be worse to adapt to any other medium then that one. www.polygon.com/2016/2/19/11...

Lee points to The Walking Dead television series as a prime example of that. Creator Robert Kirkman is on set, in the writers room, helping to select the show runner.

Lee believes so strongly about the potential of video games as movies, that he spends a lot of time working to identify up and coming indies that could make for powerful film.

That's how he managed to snag the rights to Minecraft before most of Hollywood had heard about it. The same goes for Five Nights at Freddy's.

He actually has an interesting system for doing this.

"I go to Wikia, it's a huge fan base, and it tells you which are the most popular ones," he said. "If something appears I look into it deeper."

Lee looks at how much fans are participating in fleshing out a game's backstory and how many visit the page.

Recently, Lee tracked down developer Toby Fox to ask if he would be interested in optioning role-playing game Undertale. Fox said no.

Been rewatching a lot of Defunctland lately and with all this corporate self-pantsing going on, I’ve thought about how different this company would be if Walt was somehow still alive today.

And I realize it probably wouldn’t be much! Cause he would’ve absolutely been a proponent for Gen-AI considering of how much of an
anti-union control freak he was.

Only real difference would maybe be him not wanting to go on frequent acquisition sprees. Probably because he’d see it as a waste of money compared to funding the 2 whole cities that he built.
