I feel your pain. 10 years ago on a summer drive in my MX5 I under estimated the turning radius by this much 🤏and just barely dragged the rim along the cub 🙁 I spent a few hours carefully sanding and painting to fix it. You could barely tell it was there, but I knew.
Just battery alone I can keep essentiall circuits powered for over 6 days. That's fridge, freezer, some internet connectivity, and lights. If i use high energy appliances, ill get much less run time. All lights are led and we have a hyper heatpump. Water heater is the last gas appliance.
Finally got around to unpacking my MS anniversary crystals post-retirement. They fit nicely on top of our bookshelves. Even with the bookshelves bolted to the wall, there is a good chance one or more of them will tumble if we have an earthquake. I wonder if the 25 yr will go through the floor 🤔.
Fallout 4 and almost Oxygen Not Included... which I just started another play through, so ill pass 1100 hours in no time.
Our system is a little over 4 years old and this month we passed 50mWh produced. While we don't have 100% energy coverage for the year with charging 2 EVs, it is nice to have no electric bill most of the year.

Was in Vancouver B.C. on Friday for a team event & said goodbye to my Canadian colleagues before I retire on July 2nd. The weather was perfect and the city looked amazing from the water. Lots of FIFA energy & Canadian pride with a giant Canadian flag on the slope of what I think was Grouse Mt.
Road trip went well other than spending over an hour waiting at the border crossing. Spent ~$33 on public charging. Got home with 36% SOC, charged back up with about $8.25 with of electricity (covered by solar). It took ~4.5 hours to charge to 90% SOC
Heading up to Vancouver for the day tomorrow. EV all charged up and ready for the drive. Here is the rough route for road trip in a moderate range EV that only charges at 150kW. On the way after about 1.5h of driving, charge during a bio break, on the way back charge while eating.
Nearly a perfect day for solar. Cooler temps and almost no clouds. Over 86.8kWh produced and thanks to the longer days, there is still enough light at 8:30pm to still be generating 130w.
It looks like you are clipping on generation where it flatlines through most of the day. Is your system over provisioned a bit? I used to have a lot of clipping where my single 7.6kW inverter would max out. We added a 2nd inverter & solved the clipping. Today was a great day for solar. 83.2kWh.
I have a really nice Unify wifi setup, but ran ethernet to anything with an ethernet port because there is so much interference. My network logged 314 unique wifi networks around me.
Maybe for an average driver it's almost fair, but unlike the gas tax it isn't tied to how many miles one actually drives. I drive around 7200 miles/year & my wife drives her EV about a quarter that. $150 is significantly more than I would pay in gas taxes. WA already charges me $150+75+$65 for my EV
I love this time of year, 174KWh excess energy pushed to the grid and 0kWh billed.
+1 Solar more than covers my usage most days and my batteries can keep my home fully powered for over a day or minimally powered for over 6 days. Solar covers nearly all my energy needs including driving, with only my water heater still on gas.
Today was a good day for solar. Even with a couple clouds our panels generated over 82kWh vs ~31kWh used.
SolarEdge updated their web UI, making it a little easier to see the how the system is performing at a glance. The last week has been decent for solar generation, even with some cloudy days, I'm still over producing by a sizable margin.
I use my span panel. While the percentage used directly from solar isn't that large, with net metering, I will still have a surplus in April.
Induction cooking hack. When frying food, lay down some parchment paper on the cook top for easy cleanup. All the oil splatter just land on the paper and it doesn't burn as the pan doesn't get hot enough.
We had a half dozen of these to test IA64 builds of office on back in 2001. EFI firmware updated had to be done using 120MB SuperDisk floppy drives.
I really do love having solar. Even on a moderately cloudy day like today, I'm out generating my usage including driving (ev), cooking (induction), cooling (heat pump), etc.
One more very important tip. Like any high current device, make sure the power cord is fully plugged in when charging. If it's loose, the prongs can get very hot and start a fire. Thankfully the charger I was using detected the high temps on the plug and turned off charging before it got too hot.
First day with a heat pump vs gas furnace: ➕ The heat pump is far quieter when operating ➕ It was about as fast to heat up the house ➖ I have to use the heat pump's app or their thermostat ➖ I can no longer use the nest thermostat :(
I mostly disagree. The Ionic can charge faster than your etron or my C40, 10-80% in about 18 minutes. The 800v architecture lets the Ionic charge more efficiently and sustain 250kw charging speed. Where I agree is, because of its design it has a better charging curve.
In my Volvo C40 that has about 238 miles of range. I would have to stop 5 times, charging for 1.5 hours total. In an Ionic 5 Long range, the total charge time drops to 37 minutes over 3 stops. abetterrouteplanner.com
Finally getting around to removing the TP-Link as a wireless AP & going all in on Ubiquiti. I also got my hands on the 2nd batch of their Travel Routers. Awesome device that provides a secure wifi network that can tunnel back to my home network. store.ui.com/us/en/produc...
Two EV household here. Even with a moderate 240 mile range EV, a 600 mile roadtrip that I used to drive every couple years is just a little longer than it was in a gas car. The stops to charge are nice to stretch your legs and get a bio break in.
