Native Louisianian. Probably not leaving, despite everything. Retired techie/bureaucrat. She/her.
If Mike hadn't yelled at them, they'd probably have pulled the overhead line down. I'm over this construction crew. At least they're done with the other house on the block. That one is for sale if anyone wants to be my neighbor and have this fun. 😂
If there is construction blocking any possible pedestrian or vehicular cross traffic, do we really need a signal? Why not turn it off for now, or at least do a flashing yellow?
The Highland/Nicholson exit is on the bridge on I-10 East. The exit number is wrong on here, as is everything else. The incident was on I-110 northbound. If the Capitol were visible, it would be on the other side. And that 10 West sign is probably from Ascension. 😂 Bridge street view below.
I just saw some crazy shenanigans on Decatur near Frenchmen. Driver going the wrong way. Cop on loudspeaker yelling at him. Then yelling at the van behind him to stop moving forward so he could have room to turn around. 🤦♀️
We had a fun day and ended up at Care Forgot for a beer release. At the end of the night when the place was almost empty, we were dancing to Mazzy Star and it felt like our friend Michael was watching, between the mural and the chalk art behind the bar. Dammit, I miss him.
The outside wall on our side of the house next door is mostly up. As I had hoped, this does help somewhat with the noise.
Chicken and andouille gumbo w/scrambled egg, served over grits. It's delicious.
Treated myself to some $1 cupcakes from Bywater Bakery. Also breakfast gumbo.
I'm expecting more rain than wind. Hopefully I'm right because these dumpsters will blow crap everywhere if we have strong winds.
The WEBSITE currently has a future tense story about an event from a couple of weeks ago as one of the top listed stories.
We left our house at 3 pm yesterday and got to the hotel just before 1 am. We could have driven halfway to DC in that time. But we made it. And we probably aren't as tired now as the folks on our flight who were chaperoning a church youth group. 😂
I love the @antigravitymag.bsky.social hurricane tracking map. Here it is side by side with a vintage K&B map my kid got me. Nicely done! 💜
We're watching TV in our hotel room. This came on and my husband just said "Excuse me, front desk lady, can you guarantee it won't flood?" He's referring to one of my better hotel stories when a guest asked me if it would flood during Hurricane Andrew.
Came to Miel to buy some cans of their Michael tribute beer. I got the last 4 pack. This was released on Saturday. I wanted to buy a few. Love that it's sold so well. 🧡 They still have it on tap. Y'all come get some. Proceeds benefit Silence is Violence. Ten breweries are participating. 🍻
My car and I board a tow truck just outside BR. Car is at the mechanic my extended family uses. Guess it's good I broke down near them. Mom let me borrow her car to get home. It's been A DAY.
Forest looks like a swamp today. I didn't pack rain boots so no forest walk for me.
The situation next door. A couple of those siding slats were already off but most fell in the middle of the night. Presumably that really loud noise was the window hitting the fence.
Forget sharing the last picture you saved, I want to see the very first picture on your phone. Scroll back until your fingers bleed. July 22, 2023. My high school, damaged by Hurricane Laura in 2020. I do have some older pics I copied over but this is the oldest on my camera roll.
