last post attracted this instant block, in case anyone else wants to do the same
Color outside my house about an hour ago. The air is officially in the Not Great, Bob range.
Nearly done with @lizbethmyles.bsky.social’s terrific book about the politics of Doctor Who. I rarely buy physical books nowadays — we’re well out of book space! — but I make exceptions for books my friends write, especially ones this well-written and insightful.
never mind why I found this, but I see things like this and I just get tired, so very tired, and the full power of IBM Bob won't fix me just like Microsoft Bob didn't fix me just like Clippy didn't fix me just like omg please stopppppp
Actual photo The Boston Globe took from the top of the Ferris Wheel. You can see vastly more tourists on the Mall than this on any given day of the week, never mind the massive crowds the Folklife Festival always pulls. anyway, as I said in the alt text: lol. lmao.
Actual view of the Mall from the Ferris Wheel, via The Boston Globe: I laughed myself silly at how empty it was.
After all these years using the Somerville Community Path, I finally had the great honor of meeting its illustrious ex-mayor, Berry. What a sweetheart. 🥰
Congratulations, Monday, you've finally gotten me to the point where I have to ask colleagues if they're using your AI, because if not, I'm turning it off with extreme prejudice. My tasks are organized this way for a reason and you and "Elena" can fuck all the way off.
@deck.blue I'm sorry to report that v2.22.0+1024 is unusably slow for me (M1 MBP, macOS 26.2, Safari 26.2). I frequently get "this page has been reloaded because it was using too many resources" errors, can't scroll reliably, and console has attached issues. Love this software but can't use it rn 😔
I don't read Tech Review regularly despite my free subscription, but that logo is giving me an eyetwitch. I get why it's aligned this way, but it's fucking unsettling & knowing how much they probably paid [designers redacted, pretty sure I know who it is] to do this makes me glad I get this for free
RAKESFALL is good (though not as good as THE SAINT OF BRIGHT DOORS, imo), but it includes lines like this that I can’t help but applaud
25th kickboxing workout today, hell yeah! I remain much worse at kicking than I am at punching, but I’m enjoying the hell out of myself, which is what matters most.
Smitten Kitchen’s Passover-friendly chocolate walnut cookies. They smell as good as they look.
next week’s weather forecast is sadly extremely normal for Greater Bostonia this time of year
Happy Pi Day! Gonna enjoy this beauty shortly: www.foodandwine.com/gyoza-dumpli...
It's not you. They're having server issues, though possibly there's some load-balancing in the middle somewhere that means some people can get through some of the time. Here's the ping output – feel free to send it to them. (I'm in the US, obvs, but their server should still ping for me.)
Closed my Move ring by 9am shoveling us out. We're still not done, but the sidewalk is clear, we have a path to the street, and the driveway is about 50% there. The car's gonna take a little longer, though 🙃 (estimated total, including what we cleared last night: 20")
I love blocking an obvious spammer. Wild that this same person reskeeting left-wing posts about Minnesota has some very different views over on the Nazi CSAM site!
The fun thing about truffles is that the level of fanciness & deliciousness >>> level of effort 😋
Imperfect — I put the sliced cake top on right side up instead of upside-down — but I still feel like I’ve materially leveled up in Cake.
