I found the portrait I drew of her for the game (waaaay back in 2018). It's, uh, even more blatantly a Hollow Knight ripoff design than I realized... Though her mask is more slasher movie villain / Jason hockey mask than I remembered. I hope I'd be able to do better now, but I'm really not certain.

I painted the guy. Just roughly; Not aiming for a higher end mini-painting level of polish. He got a bit too glossy, but I needed that extra durable varnish layer.

Some light sculpting before bed. Looks a lot more sloppy/rough in the pic than IRL. Should maybe have used a firmer clay, but I reaaally did not feel like kneading my firm super sculpy to soften it to workability.

Finally, I achieved a bread that rose properly. Mostly I get loafs that are a little small and a tad denser than I want; this one though, had a very healthy rise, finally!

It's looking *apocalypic* today. Doesn't show well on photos, but the sky's been this deep orange all morning. I can only assume from wildfires I haven't heard of?

Depression is kicking my ass, but I can still enjoy a nice baked good, and it quiets the dark thoughts for a few minutes at least. Just made a small tiramisu with added secret nutella layers. Chilling in the fridge now, will enjoy a piece this evening.

Working on more art cards. I'm certain this paper is going to rip when I try to pull the tape off 😔

Over the past ~2 weeks, I've been restoring (poorly) an old metal watercolour palette that used to be my grandfather's. I'd used it in the past, but even then, the paint was flaking, and rust was starting to show. Now it's been sanded and resprayed... and that failed spray sanded and resprayed twice

Character portrait for a possible Astroprisma playthrough. It's drawn on a black card packing material, hence the cutout in the middle I tried dubiously to turn into a graphical element. Not sure if I should go in and try to add colour or shading, or if it's not worth the risk.

This 9x12" sketchbook is at least 17 years old (i just withered away to dust while calculating that). It was formerly for my "Animal Drawing" class back in animation school. Ripped out all the terrible old drawings (about 1/2 the total pages) and decorated the cover to let me mentally restart.

Multi-colored test print just to troubleshoot my carving. Not final colors, inks or paper; Just using the cheap tuff for testing right now... Thank go because that black is splotchy as all hell. I think the star should not be gold now, and I need to tidy up some of the red.

First test print for the key block of my newest linocut. Definitely have some bits that need cleaning up. It will (I hope) look much nicer when I finally have both colors in place.

Started carving. Really don't prefer this rubbery material, but as I'm doing a multi-color print this lets me do 1 color per side of the block.

I made chocolate bread! Should really wait for it to cool down a while before tasting it.... but that's a real struggle right now 😅

Made some adjustments so the legs are maybe a hair less stiff (still too stiff, but oh well). Also tried for better contrasting tones between suit bits. The plan with the helmet is not print it yellow, but to add a metallic leaf instead... or maybe just gold marker if I have to

Sketching out a possible future lino print. I want to try a multi colour print... but I'm not happy with the pose here; Way too static looking as-is.

The first mini I managed to finish painting so far this year (I think). For a hobby challenge on The Weald discord server, with the theme "Folk Celebrations". My rolled prompts: Mourning, The Burning of the Man, & Weird or Cursed Plant. Everything except the tips of the candles sculpted by me.

So about a month ago I built a little photo backdrop out of cheap old wood boards. I wanted a way to take nicer photos of my prints 'n' things, with a rustic look. And of course, beyond these test photos I still haven't used it 😅

I finished it... but the glare in the photo is aweful.

Spiral bread! Spiral bread! Fresh outta da oven

Last week whenever I had time to d some arting, I typically worked on little art cards. Largely as practice for collaging and not loving the results... but weirdly, when I put them all together in a card sleeve binder sheet I like them a lot better.

Baked another sourdough. Nicest looking loaf I've baked to date. Lets hope it's as nice on the inside.

So much snow
