12) Mad Men Season 3 The big shakeup with PPL made things quite interesting. I enjoyed Jared Harris's addition to the cast especially after seeing him in Chernobyl. Don's life continues to entertain and seeing Joan is always a treat (I did not know Hendricks was so talented). Pete too
11) Mad Men Seadon 2 Really good. Kinda meandery in the middle but pays off with the finale. Further insights into Don's past was nice as well as watching Peggy move up.
10) Mad Men Season 1 Phenomenal television. A period piece of midcentury america starring John Hamm. I first saw him in Baby Driver and he's a great actor. Shout out to Elisabeth Moss as Peggy Olsen. There's some great cinematography as well to watch and knowlege of the time deepens one's enjoyment
9) Berlin (2018) As the world around them descends into fascism, life goes on for people from all walks of life in Berlin. A rather timely read given current events...
8) Tokyo on Foot Fun collection of illustrations of mid 2000s Tokyo. There's a buncha handrawn maps with landmarks that also get full page illustrations which makes piecing it together fun. Also I felt like that one pointing Leonardo DiCaprio meme when I'd see places I know from media like Shinjuku
6 7) Princess Knight and MW Felt like reading Tezuka and while these stories have a major contrast in subject matter and tone the layered complexities in the plots highlight Tezuka's storytelling talent. Not only that but you can tell how he gets better at giving the story and it's characters depth
5.) DC: The New Frontier (Reread) Read this last night after thinking about comic book styles. It's a fun mix of history and DC heros. Would recomend.
4.) The Cartoon History of the Universe/Modern world (Reread) Revisited this to jog my memory on world history. This was over the past month. If you ever feel like you don't know enough about the world give this series a read and then look at the bibliography for what looks interesting.
3.) Kingdom Come (Reread) Was thinking about comic book artstyles and I remembered this 4 issue series. It's such a masterful and weighty work encompassing the DC universe that was done with so few pages. A lesson many current superhero writers could learn from. Worth reading for those familar w/DC
2.) The Two Popes (2019) As someone who was raised in a catholic (but not very devout) household it was interesting to watch this to get a perspective on how more devout people think and act. The cinematography was great and I liked how certain time periods had their own style. Would recomend.
1.) Andor Season 2 I waited a while to get to this over fears of it being overhyped and I'm glad to say that it was incredibly good. Knowing what happens in R1 adds a certain tension which is very exciting. Also while S1 felt like movies broken up into episodes, S2 felt better paced but a bit brisk
