Sean Tindell owes Mississippi more than “I presumed it was for tax purposes.”
IntelliSafe’s contract reportedly designated $25 per payment for DPS. IntelliSafe’s own books reportedly labeled the accumulating money “Total DPS.” Yet DPS says it has no record of receiving it.
Then $78,532 winds up at the Mississippi Public Safety Foundation — a nonprofit whose board includes Commissioner Tindell and other DPS officials — after Tindell says Josh Gregory contacted him and Tindell directed Gregory to that Foundation.

Money identified by contract and accounting records with DPS does not go to DPS. Instead, after a conversation with the DPS Commissioner, it goes to a separate nonprofit the Commissioner himself helps govern.
And we’re supposed to stop asking questions because Tindell says he “presumed” the arrangement was for tax purposes?
Absolutely not.
Who authorized this? Why was $78,532 characterized as a “donation” rather than money associated with the contractual DPS allocation? Did Tindell know where the number came from? Did he disclose his board position when directing Gregory to the Foundation? Did Tindell participate in any Foundation discussion or vote concerning the money? What role did his chief of staff — identified in Foundation records as its incorporator — play? And where did every dollar go?
Nobody should accuse anyone of a crime without evidence. But nobody should pretend this arrangement is ordinary either.
A state agency commissioner directing a private company toward a nonprofit he helps govern — when the company’s own records identify the underlying money as “DPS” — demands aggressive scrutiny, not excuses.
Release the emails. Release the texts. Release the board minutes. Release the bank records. Release the accounting. Release every communication with Josh Gregory concerning IntelliSafe and the Foundation.
Mississippians deserve to know exactly how money labeled “DPS” became a $78,532 “donation” to an organization governed by DPS leadership.

On Aug 4, 2026, Military.com reported the Department of the US Navy “Suddenly Ends 43-Year Blue Angels Uniform Deal with Florida Business”.
As per the article,
“On May 14, the U.S. Navy awarded a new approximate $1.69 million contract to Aquila International LLC of Dulles, Va., according to contract details publicly posted on SAM.gov, a website where business owners can directly pitch to federal agencies for the opportunity to win federal contracts, grants or financial aid from the U.S. government.”
This despite the original contractor, “The Sewing Box”, a black-owned business which is located right outside the main gate of Pensacola NAS and has been providing these services since the 1970s, provided the services for far less.
While I’m quite certain the incompetently belligerent and racially-biased so-called “Secretary of War” Pete Hegseth will claim this was all above-board, I won’t buy that excuse for a second.
As Chairman of the US Senate Armed Services Committee and someone who has regularly railed about the budget deficit/federal debt, I expect you to denounce this egregious contract award as it serves neither the US Navy’s Blue Angels or the American taxpayers.
In short, do something, Roger, or you’ll be sanctioning this blatantly discriminatory act.

Russ is a thin-skinned nasty piece of work who is the poster boy for white privilege and Christian nationalism. For those of you who don't know who Russ is, I'll just quote from this MS Today article (link in next post).

Dear Senator Roger Wicker,

Very succinctly, as an American taxpayer and citizen, I want to know when you are going to grow a backbone and start holding this administration accountable for an unnecessary and illegal war ... and one that keeps lying to Americans about the true costs. For example:

I can't fathom a single reason as to why you refuse to do your job as Chair of the Senate Armed Service Committee other than to surmise it's because members of the Trump Administration have incriminating evidence on you ... or you actually approve of bellicose incompetence at the highest levels of government and enjoy having our national security weakened.

As I know beyond all doubt that this email will never be seen by Senator Wicker's eyes, I ask the staffer who does skim over this to compile his/her "sentiment" gauge for the Senator at least take the time to reply with an actual response, not a boilerplate missive that claims the Senator "shares" my concerns or other politically anodyne (and politically cowardly) nonsense. At the very least, you could tell me and the thousands of other Mississippians who are like-minded that you don't really care what our opinions are. At least then, you'd be honest.

According to US Census Bureau, ~40% of MS's population is comprised of people of color. Sitting @ table, only 8% of Reeves' cabinet is representative. Including all folks in the photo, only 10% of cabinet is representative of the state. This is a feature, not a bug, of Southern GOP politics.

You'd think MS Gov. Tate "Canned Ham" Reeves would be eager to provide the details on proclamations like this ... but he never does. In this Facebook post, he only supplies a screenshot of a headline, not a link to article he's so proudly figuratively waving around. Now, why is that?

I'll be damned. After HUNDREDS of emails & phone calls over the years on a variety of subjects, each demanding a response, I FINALLY received a response from US Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith's (R-MS, of fucking course) office. Of course, it doesn't answer why she supports Trump's $1.776 billion slush fund.

I don't have an issue w/ economic incentives to attract/retain businesses in MS. I DO have a problem w/ claims MS has to hide details from taxpayers who are footing the bill. Note how Bill Cork, Executive Director of MS Development Authority, jumped in to justify corporate welfare.

"Tate Reeves nor Mississippi Development Authority are keen on letting MS taxpayers know how much in state/county/city funding, subsidies, offsets, tax breaks, taxpayer-funded "infrastructure improvments", etc, were provided.
NPL Construction Co. didn't do this out of the goodness of their little corporate heart. There were publicly-funded "sweeteners" in the mix ... and state officials don't want to be open and transparent about them."

It’s not wise to advertise what they are in press releases because that creates a signal to other states on what our incentives include and they don’t disclose theirs easily either. Don’t hate the player. Hate the game. But NPL got tax credits based on a formula approved by the legislature. No back door deals and highly transparent. We are providing quarterly reports to the legislature on this program. It has excellent oversight. By the way, if you are a MS taxpayer the first $50k of your personal income is exempt from personal tax. Could that be called and incentive? Or is it just good tax policy? Tax credits are good tax policy that makes MS competitive and easy for companies to get started or expand."

My response (abbreviated):
"you have answered in this manner before. it is a poor excuse for refusing to provide full transparency for what was promised/committed on the part of taxpayers.
I've seen the worksheets that are used by cities/counties for offering tax breaks for large companies/corporations. They are based on free market pixie dust and wishful thinking.
It's damn near impossible for the average Mississippian to find out what was committed, terms, length of time & what enforceable requirements were imposed on corporate entity. there are details for Nissan deal STILL under wraps, years later. MDA (and Reeves & members of MS Legislature) are essentially demanding Mississippians trust them in lieu of any verifiable facts. That's nothing short of an argument from authority.
Finally, as I've pointed out before, refusing to publicly provide details because other states might (probably) will outbid MS guarantees a race to the bottom, a place where MS seems to be very proud of remaining."

So we have Trump effectively committing us to billions of dollars in military spending because of the war, and he’s drawn down our missile supplies to the point that we’re vulnerable to the Chinese if they choose to start a war. The Chinese probably won’t, because they’re already winning the trade war with us, and they don’t seem to be inclined to do stupid shit for no good strategic reason, unlike Trump. But we can’t count on that.
