Jim Walsh loves to lie. The 2026 Washington State Democratic Convention wasn't "hijacked." It was a democratic Democratic gathering, with the platform recommended by the Platform Committee largely adopted as drafted. Meanwhile, Republican Chair Walsh chickened out of holding a convention this year.

The Trump curse is real. Congratulations, Belgium! And well done, Seattle, throwing an incredible party on a sun soaked summer day. More photos coming to The Cascadia Advocate.
The million dollar earners tax is in fact limited to people who make over a million dollars a year. Not those who *have* a million, but *make* a million... which, in practical terms, means around 20,000 of the richest people in the state. The limitation on who pays is inherent in the design:
Also taking notice of this is @seattletimes.com - we shared the video first :)
Truly a first-rate effort by @wsdot.wa.gov to explain Washington to newcomers. Outstanding use of MS Paint, or whatever equivalent program was used.
Recording NPI@NN with @raskin.house.gov! Episode coming to The Cascadia Advocate soon. #NN26
It’s because they have a double standard and expect to get away with it. There’s no end to their arrogance.
There's no such thing as an "on topic" Trump speech. Why, after over ten years of this absurdity, are mass media editors still concocting nonsense like this?
Not interested in following Trump's every utterance? Well, you aren't missing much. Reporters who are on the edge of their seats waiting for Trump to say things have a pretty bad case of whiplash.
Brandi Kruse is having a really bad day. This is quite the temper tantrum, with a side of nasty targeted harassment aimed at Washingtonians For Ethical Government's Pam Stuart. www.seattletimes.com/education-la...
If you're looking at candidate filings on kingcounty.gov and wondering why didn't Hannah Sabio-Howell and Jamie Pedersen file, know that they actually did so on Monday, but for some reason, they're only in the state's system and King County isn't showing them yet. They will be on the ballot! #waleg
At Sound Transit executive committee meeting, where a proposal to formalize austerity measures is under consideration. Seattle City Councilmember Dan Strauss just delivered a speech saying he is very troubled by what Chair Somers' plan does to the Ballard Link light rail extension. #ST3
@acluwa.bsky.social offered this critique of the bill (which regulates automatic license plate readers) after the House amended it. In case you're interested in what the shortcomings are:
We reported on both of Representative DelBene's FISA votes in the last edition of Last Week In Congress. She wasn't the only Democratic member of Congress from the PNW who voted that way, sadly. The passage of the short term extension is very disappointing.
A company spokesperson declined to comment on Friday on ongoing discussions, other than to add Spirit “is operating as usual.” www.politico.com/news/2026/05... A few hours later.... the Spirit website is replaced with a redirect to spiritrestructuring.com. They had to have known this was coming.
Thank you, @repdelbene.bsky.social. This is the thoughtful, principled stance that we should see from *every* member of Congress.
"need to do a better job of vetting" Don't be ridiculous, Senator Tillis. You have been voting for unqualified nominees throughout this vengeance presidency. You knew, or should have known, what you were getting. You were the deciding vote to put in Pete Hegseth: web.archive.org/web/20250204...
At the @saveballardrail.bsky.social rally with @theurbanist.org, @robertcruickshank.com, and @seattlesubway.org. @councilmember-amr.bsky.social led off, followed by @jorgebaron.bsky.social and now @noelframe.bsky.social.
#waleg news (Cascadia Advocate post coming): Longtime Eastside Democratic State Representative Larry Springer has announced he won't be seeking reelection to the Legislature in 2026, which means Position 2 is officially an open seat for the first time since 2004. Two credible Ds are already running.
However, when not targeted, both of them have put up similar numbers. Cantwell did 59.09% in 2024 (2024 wasn't a wave year for Democrats nationally), Murray did 59.01% in 2016. Here's the percentages.
Trouble in MAGAland as Trump posts an AI generated image of himself as Jesus
Tommy Vietor unearthed this Maureen Dowd absurdity from 2016 that has aged... extremely poorly. It's always a good day to criticize @nytopinion.nytimes.com. @nytpitchbot.bsky.social
Over at the other place, Republican State Party Chair Jim Walsh is drunk on delusions. With every passing day, he gets more and more disconnected from public opinion. He really is convinced that voters are mad at Washington State's governing Democrats and not his party. "Seethe and cope," he says.
NPI staff and board are here in Olympia celebrating the signing of the million dollar earners tax into law... with Tim Eyman! Why does he want to be here? His answer: he said it's historic. (That, and he knew there would be lots and lots of cameras present...)
Returning from a fundraiser in Seattle tonight but the journey out of town on the 550 is painfully slow - it's stuck in Mariners postgame traffic. This is why we built the 2 Line. This is what John Niles refuses to understand. If only cross-lake light rail had opened today instead of tomorrow...
Someone was up to good trouble Post reporters called the White House. Their phones showed ‘Epstein Island.’ Someone messed with Google’s widely cited databases of business listings. www.washingtonpost.com/style/power/...
He isn't going to "pay his respects." It is so tiring that after all that has happened, reporters and editors continue to put out stuff like this. They *know* Trump is a sociopath and a pathological liar and they do it anyway. They just can't meet the moment and call a spade a spade consistently.
#waleg about to adjourn Sine Die with NO meaningful short-term progressive revenue adopted and lots of harmful cuts to public services, including education
