As part of the Darwin 200 Expedition, scientists from Ascension Island Government used our automated #eDNA depth sampler in the Marine Protected Area seamounts to detect shark presence. The scientific data will inform #conservation. 🦈 #SharkWeek2026 #SharkWeek #marinescience #fisheries
Scientists at @stanforduniversity.bsky.social say advancements in #eDNA technology could help us to answer the question, ‘If I surf at this beach today, is there a white shark around?” 🦈 Read the story: oceandiagnostics.com/ocean-diagno... #whitesharks #sharkweek #sharks #science #oceanscience
We analyze microplastic samples in our ISO-5 Clean Laboratory using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (#FTIR). We can identify 20 of the most common plastic polymer types down to 10 microns and provide reliable polymer abundance, size, morphology, and chemical composition data. 🧑🏼🔬🔬
We offer FREE microplastics resources for classrooms and communities. Learn how to identify microplastic types, where they come from and how you can help contribute data. Subscribe to get started. oceandiagnostics.com/microplastic...
Moon jellies galore on this weekend's paddle in #Victoria. 🪼 #YYJ #pacificocean #ecology
How does our exec team unwind? In the ocean of course! 🤿 Ashleigh and Ethan enjoy exploring the Salish Sea by boat, paddle and fins. A new favourite past time is identifying the anemones and fish in Victoria while snorkeling. The waters are frigid, but the creatures are breathtaking.
Dr. Kim Parsons is a research geneticist at @fisheries.noaa.gov in Seattle. Her team uses Ocean Diagnostics' #eDNA depth and surface samplers to study large #marinemammals. By uncovering how #cetaceans travels in marine waters they can better inform conservation measures. 🐳🐬 (Video by Paul Hillman)
It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it! 💩 Our lab team has been analyzing #microplastics from wastewater samples using #FTIR (in a clean room not pictured). Even when they're out of the field, our scientists find a way to get their hands dirty. 🙈 #environmentalscience #monitoring #waterquality
From Barbados and Canada to Nigeria and Australia, community Scientists around the world are helping to tackle microplastic pollution. Read their stories and start a project in your community: hubs.ly/Q04nQ5hV0 Together, WE can ALL make a difference. #citizenscience #plasticfreejuly #microplastic
(2/6) Single-use plastic items are made to be durable, which means they do not degrade in the environment. Instead, they break up into smaller pieces called #microplastics. With only 9% of Canada's plastic was actually recycled, a significant amount of single-use plastic ended up in the environment.
Our #eDNA Surface Sampler has been out in the field with Aden Ip from @ednacollab.bsky.social as part of a portable toolkit to collect fish, pathogen and bacteria data all in less than a day's work! 🧬🐟 www.linkedin.com/posts/aden-i... (Photo credit: Aden Ip) #genomics #biodiversity #IAS #science
As a company founded by marine scientists and engineers to overcome field sampling challenges with innovative tech, we designed a portable #eDNA surface sampler that anyone, anywhere can use. 🧬🐟 Check it out: oceandiagnostics.com/edna-surface... #biodiversity #freshwater #marineecology

New tech is transforming #fisheries science and #salmon conservation. The Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission recently uncovered surprising Chinook migration behaviours using our #eDNA Surface Sampler in extremely remote headwaters. Findings are helping inform conservation. hubs.ly/Q04mpDqQ0
Every microplastic particle tells a story that can help inform solutions. Our Lab Manager, Iselle, explains how microplastic "fingerprints" provide data that is crucial for understanding how microplastics move through the environment, their sources, and how to stop them. #microplastics #envsci
"One of my favourite parts of this (#eDNA) system is that it’s compatible with a wide range of filter types, making it easy to tailor to different project needs. It’s streamlined the sampling process in a way I couldn’t have done otherwise.” - Amy Migneault from @uvic.ca & @mersociety.bsky.social.
