Brandenburger Tor was looking *good* today, with a gray sky and a little white snow around. I cannot believe I never saw it before even though I used to live for years in Germany. Berlin was great!
I like the styling of the ß on the street signs in Berlin near the Reichstag. Is it for readability? Purely style?

Did you know that you can leave some carrots in the ground and pull them even after a frost? These garden carrots were delicious, even though we have snow on the ground. You cannot let them go forever, but they keep pretty well into late fall or early winter depending on your conditions! 🌱
@scalzi.com I saw this today at my local store. It was the only title they had of yours. I was hoping to find something in their small English section but alas none of yours were there. My German is not quite good enough for novels. I did get Starter Villain in Stockholm this summer though.
German train service, the Deutsche Bahn, has been getting steadily worse in the half decade I lived in Germany. There are many, many reasons for delay. Despite that, I did not have “Disposal of unexploded ordnance” on my bingo card for today’s train for delay.
A really nice smultron (wild strawberry) haul today! Still more on the plants, which maybe will ready when I get back from Italy 🇮🇹. We will see. 🙃 There was only one sad—probably yummy—raspberry. 🌱
More carrots 🥕 today. Another 10% or so. They look tasty. Some are a bit small, I think because they were too close. I didn’t thin them out this year. 🌱
This is what I usually look for to pluck a carrot. If frost is not predicted, if the green tops still look like they are in good shape, and I don’t see a bit of carrot body, then I wait.

🌱 This was about 5%-10% of the carrot harvest so far. I pulled a bunch, made some lovely carrot and onion (also from the garden) soup, and then had to leave town for a bit. I am heading home tomorrow and cannot wait to pull (hopefully) a lot more carrots!
A small harvest of strawberries, smultron, and raspberries from my garden. I only have a couple small plants of each. I need to dedicate a lot more space to berries! Another harvest should be possible before the first frost. There are still a bunch of flowers green berries on the plants.
I was out in the garden today, and… somebody please send reinforcements. The slugs are decimating our strawberries.
My favorite is not the first line, but it’s close enough for me. Basically Hugo setting expectations, saying, you better believe this is gonna be a *book*.
