1975’s The Black Bird, the comedic sequel to The Maltese Falcon, has lurched out of OOP obscurity and suddenly appeared on Tubi. It is by no means good, but I am glad that I finally have a chance to access and watch this otherwise inaccessible movie.
Tonight’s movie of choice is Giù la testa aka Duck, You Sucker! aka A Fistful of Dynamite. This Ennio Morricone soundtrack lives in my head.
The one bright side is getting more of Mary Jo Pehl as Pearl. She was always a delightful Mad.
The recent news of Rifftrax/MST3k is kinda bittersweet for me. I’m not a huge fan of Mike Nelson, and I really liked the goofy sincerity of the Netflix/Gizmoplex seasons. A lot of Rifftrax content leaves me cold, and I’m worried it’s just gonna feel like more of the same.

Finally saw the second season of The Big O. I was hooked on the first season back when it aired on Toonami, and somehow completely missed the second entirely. Thank god for the internet, since it’s abominably out of print.
I finally sat down to watch the first two episodes of Starfleet Academy and enjoyed the ride it took me on. Second chances, new challenges, and building a better tomorrow are the themes on deck, and those are definitely in character with Star Trek to me.
That thought was inspired by see this clip and imagining Knox going on a similar in-universe tangent while Clark just stands there hiding his face in his hand.
I feel like in this world of expanded nostalgia continuity that it’s a shame we haven’t seen Clark and Lois interact with Vicki Vale and Alexander Knox.
I’m not the absolute greatest at Mario Kart, but sometimes I am a lethal Green Shell sniper. ☠️
