Tyranny of distance is also a refuge in troubled times. 🦘 Living a simple life in a harsh land, while deeply interested in the wider world far beyond our shores. 💯Europe+ democratic alliance. ❤️🐕 and the land
And branches can grow in any direction, including sideways, backward, and upside down
Many trees died back over the last few years, with the drought & extended heat, but after the floods at least some began growing back New foliage is greener so all the native trees & bushes really brightened up
What an extraordinary year we're having out on the land after the floods in February & March!! Midwinter in July, but its also spring summer and autumn all at once ...
Here the land is singing with so much life after the floods ... you don't hear it so much as feel it
Wattle flowers from April of this year, completely the wrong time of year for them to blossom. Galahs and parrots feeding young in their tree hollow nests - in June & July, completely wrong time of year. Sturt's desert pea plants have been in flower for 8 months now. THE DROUGHT IS OVER!!
This is Australian winter warmth, 6 months after the 50c summer heatwaves. Environmental catastrophe is inevitable
Australia Strolling in the winter sunshine with my dog, watching black-shouldered kites, a common raptor, hunting for mice along with several Nankeen kestrels - a sign local rodent populations are growing ahead of a predicted plague, but what a beautiful sight they are, like all our wildlife
Flood warning area is 😵💫 Larger in area than France & Germany combined, just massive. And we're still drying out from flash flooding last weekend
It already is! 2pm Sunday here and its a glorious 30c because the heatwave ended last night!! 🎉 a cool change crept in and last night's sunset sky looked like this
50c outside this afternoon, a powerful heat which is really something to experience. The ground and everything in full shade radiating heat, the phenomenal intensity of that white-hot sunlight, the stillness and silence. The overwhelming force of nature of this level of heat is ... just wow.
