‘The Other Bennet Sister’ is my favorite story in the Jane Austen universe.

A diverse cast is historically & regionally correct. But this is not what the Ancient Greeks wore on their bodies. Has Nolan ever been to a country that touches the Mediterranean? Where was this filmed? Greenland? Further analysis in ALT TXT.

All the people depicted are light skinned to the point of looking like marble, which is historically very inaccurate as Greece is very hot, sunny and they engaged in extensive trade with regions in North Africa and the Middle East. This would have encouraged intermarriage to strengthen contracts along with the unfortunate slave trade that occurred in the era.

On a side note the Ancient Greeks *hated* the barbarian tribes to the north — known as Thrace — which is where all the light skinned people lived (present day Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine).

Men wore himation or togas and women wore chiton or peplos, both were flowing garments resembling sleeveless dresses that covered their entire bodies. In cooler climates it was paired with a long, floor length cape wrapped around the body.

Active men, such as laborers and soldiers wore tunics and kilts which exposed their legs from the thigh down to their feet.

These outfits were often adorned with elaborate jewelry and accessories, such as belts, bracelets and necklaces.

The woman has her dark hair in a loose side braid. She is wearing a white elbow length dress with blue embroidery and a blue sash tied at her waist. She is wearing white cord sandals.

Going through my 80’s comics & ran across ‘Marvel Spotlight’ 5 — 1st appearance of Ghost Rider w/ a $12.50 price sticker still on it. That sucker auctioned over $300K for a CGC grade 10. Mine absolutely won’t grade that high, maybe a 9.0 (~$3K) but (adjusted for inflation), best $35 I ever spent!

A picture of my very own copy of ‘Marvel Spotlight’ issue 5 which is the first appearance of Ghost Rider. I paid $12.50 in 1988 which is about $35 adjusted for inflation. In 2023 a copy slabbed and graded a 10 by the CGC sold at auction for $314,375.

My copy will probably grade at 9.0 which would probably go at auction north of $3,000. All in all, I made 10,000% on my investment.

All this bc I was a dorky girl without any friends, who liked stories and art before it was cool for girls to like comics, Magic the Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons.

Not gonna lie, I spent $45 to eat popcorn out of Castle Greyskull (yes the skull & jaw drawbridge open & close) which will become my Halloween candy bowl. When “it” happens I’ll watch all the reports while eating popcorn.

The 2026 Castle Grayskull popcorn bucket combo available at Cinemark was a promotional tie in for the remake of ‘He-Man and the Masters of the Universe’.

The castle is grey plastic with a skull wearing a helmet. A teal insignia is seen in the center forehead band of the helmet.

The helmet is hinged and is open and the jaw is open with popcorn spilling out. In the left back one of the turrets is actually a cup and a straw can be seen sticking up.

Audi had a better futuristic model in ‘I, Robot’

Audi RSQ designed in 2004. Will Smith drove this police car in ‘I, Robot’, a movie set in 2036. It is silver, has rear hinged butterfly style doors and the wheels are covered to appear as if they are magnetic spheres, making it capable of moving in all directions.

The interior features a yoke steering wheel and an armrest with hidden toggles and switches.

This RSQ design was based on Audi’s TT model and resulted in the mid-engined sports coupe, the Audi R8, was released in 2006 which became Audi’s best selling luxury sports coupe model.

As the proud owner of a 2016 Ford Focus ST in TANGERINE SCREAM, the world would be a happier place if more cars on the road were happy colors. While inside, you can see slight highlights of TANGERINE SCREAM, which is a very thoughtful design feature. Every time I drive it, I’m in my happy place.

A photo of my glorious 2016 Ford Focus ST in TANGERINE SCREAM, a tri-coat paint which is the exact same color as the yellow on US road caution signs and school busses. The tri-coat gives the paint job a certain depth with a hint of sparkle in bright sunlight. Even though it is the brightest thing on the road, people routinely pull out in front of me.

The manual transmission and twin turbos make this model go from zero to 60 in 6 seconds flat, which is surprising considering the fact this car was under $30,000 new

The torque on the model ST is nothing compared to the model RS but that only came in blue or red. Which is why I special ordered TANGERINE SCREAM instead.

Everything about this car is perfection, from the way the interior hugs you like a cockpit to its responsive handling which one exception: the standard brakes are undersized for the speed the turbos generate.

I’m always afraid they’ll light on fire or fail if I drive too vigorously. I never upgraded the standard brakes (which would have required 4 larger “snowflake” wheels) because the caliper covers only came in red, which I’ve already opined as boring.

Recently an internet search had come up with auto spray paint specifically designed for brake caliper covers and in TANGERINE SCREAM, so I may upgrade the brakes in the future.

This ICES concentration camp schematic is like a slave ship diagram.

The illustration is taken from a copy of Thomas Clarkson’s ‘History…of the Atlantic Slave-Trade’ published in 1808. Clarkson and other anti-slavery lecturers used it to illustrate the evils of the slave trade in thousands of anti-slavery meetings across Britain.

12 MILLION Black Africans were transported across the Atlantic Ocean between the 1400’s and 1800’s to work on plantations across the Caribbean, North and South America. Of these 12 MILLION people, more than 10% or 1.2 MILLION people died on the “middle passage” due to the inhumane conditions on slave ships.

Watching ‘Hamish Macbeth’ on BritBox & this is basically a show about the only incompetent cop in a small Scottish town who just covers up crimes. Every once in a while he solves cold cases but otherwise just covers up local crimes.

A metal Dacian wolf-dragon known as a “Dacian draco” whistle mounted on a stone pedestal. The stone has been worn away by centuries of rainfall.

This is wind instrument that was either mounted on fortress walls or carried into battle by horsemen. It would catch the wind and give off an eerie screeching howl to intimidate invaders.

The Dacian draco is in the form of a dragon with a wolf’s head and open jaws bearing fangs and multiple metal tongues. Fabric was attached to the tail to make it seem alive and flying in the air above the army.

The first depiction of the wolf-dragon dates to 1120 BCE in Babylon Mesopotamia. The wolf was seen as a sacred protector of the forest and the dragon a sacred protector of the sky.

Some days I’m the “steely eyed missile man” but other days I’m Rich Purnell spitting old, cold coffee into a mesh trash can and then tripping on it. I wish I could predict which Purnell I’m going to be on any given day.

Norman was protesting the “White Australia Policy”. When Carlos forgot his black gloves in his room Norman suggested they break up Smith’s pair.
