Dear@pewresearch.org — there are more options than married (and presumably living together, but not always) and cohabiting. When will you ask people if they are partnered and in a live apart together relationship?
But if a woman wants to leave that marriage one day? That's a very unsafe time. One study of men who killed their wives found threats of separation by their partner or actual separations were most often the precipitating events that led to the murder.
