Love those guys! This is my favorite prairie dog picture I ever took. Being in the middle of a family vacation with two kids, I really felt sympathy for the adult prairie dog.
The Spare Man, by Mary Robinette Kowal, is a loving homage to the Thin Man movies. Detective fiction in space! The Initiate Brother duology by Sean Russell. A barely fantasy alternate ancient China. Sweeping scope, intrigue, betrayal, love, and heroism.
3 obscure treasures you might not have already read. Shambling Guide to New York City by Mur Lafferty has a sequel, but the first book is a self-contained story.
Germans may be more pragmatic than the French, but I can definitely remember Greens opposing AC because the extra demand on the grid would prolong fossil fuel use or increase the urban heat island effect.
Most Somalis in Minnesota are either legal immigrants or born here, of course, but this still bears repeating.
Disclaimer: not an artist. I can see it as a training wheel for someone learning to draw. I can see it recontextualized and/or subverted to add depth of meaning to a new piece (especially if it's explicitly acknowledged. Pros doing it without acknowledgement is gross. E.g. Lichtenstein.
It's just one day, sadly. We go back to cooler temperatures tomorrow. Can't remember if this is second false Spring or third. At least it was nice enough to go look at birds!
They could close the budget gap by bringing back that unfortunate mug design from 2016 that the Barnes & Noble Campus Store brought in.
No dice on #northernlights last night, but it's pretty vivid in southcentral MN around 5:30am! #mnwx
Amazing outrage considering ICE has been invading churches for months and this administration has defended it.
My favorite restaurant in Minneapolis. Glad they're prioritizing employee safety and we will definitely be going back soon, after they feel safe to reopen. Support your local businesses!
This Homedics top fill is super quiet and has a remote so you can control it without bending over to push buttons.
Ice pillars early this morning. Pretty rare to get them so bright and colorful around here.
First vehicle, first series, first grade. I still would love a jaunt on her.
I think it's clever. A fairly low-stakes way to remind the workers about safety and the importance of reading signs before going into the building with the whirring machines.
From the PSC Manual. Amazing that a single digit separates Smoke Grenades from Guided Missile Warheads. You really want competent people doing your procurement.
