Maybe gets a knee in the quad (really she runs her quad into Kiah's knee) but at the same time her hand is on Kiah's chest-and she falls when she lands because she gives Kiah a push when they're in the air. Knocking knees isn't a foul, but shoving a player in the chest is.

Haha, this was the "best possible team" from the teams I was allowed to draft from, but Michael Jordan paired with... Muggsy Bogues is not a winning combination 😔🏀

game "73-9" in which you are given various teams from differnt seasons to draft from, with a limit of 100 million dollars, and then that team's season is modeled to see if they would beat the 73-9 Golden State Warriors. This time I was able to draft Muggsy Bogues, Michael Jordan, Andrew Wiggins, Cameron Johnson, and Nenê. They went 43-39. The game calls my tam a "play-in team" even though there was no play-in in 2015-16.🤔

The Posey (Oakland-Alameda) Tube in a 1936 photo postcard. Though the stylish streetlights remain, these towers were lopped off when 880 was built.

black and white photo postcard from 1936 show the Oakland entrance to the Posey Tube. Originally two-way, the entrance to the underwater tunnel was flanked on either side with two tall towers in an Art Deco style. Each tower had a large lamp on top. The concrete railings on either side had metal (bronze? They have a greenish tint now) streetlights mounted on top.

Dahlia “ Twyning’s After Eight” blooming for the first time in my garden! I bought this baby plant probably 7-9 years ago and it’s put out some foliage every year but no flowers. Finally repotted and fertilized it, and now it’s big and covered in buds 🌱#Oakland

And finally this Pennsylvania Dutch hex sign by Evelyn Berry, which exudes an overall sense of raunchy Paganism. Maybe if someone had carefully installed this in a hidden spot in the White House we wouldn't be in the mess we're in today.

A round yellow sign displays a blue double-headed eagle accented by red tulips. A heart-shaped American flag is positioned between its wings, and its tail has... a red vulva in the center? So do all the tulips, in fact. I don't know enough about about Pennsylvania Dutch hex signs to know what this imagery might mean.

This Astrological Chart of the United States by Gregory Spann, sent by Alfred Simpkins. Gold foil stars in red, white and blue, calligraphy, and faux aging. A very 70s object in every way. Sun in the House of Money, and moon in the House of Religion. What could it mean?!

This Rope Horse made by Michael Wolf. Not sure I would have guessed "horse", but I guess it has a saddle. Maybe a rope dog would have been a better choice?

This Bicentennial Bottle of Air made by the Goodfun Co. and sent by Jerry Beguin. Jerry must have been a real card!

A small transparent glass bottle features a patriotic label, which displays an eagle, stars, and horizontal red and blue text.

The Gerald R. Ford Library has an online exhibition of things he was sent by the public for the Bicentennial. Some stuff I liked: this scroll by Chow Chian-Chiu and Chow Leung Chen-Ying. I wish I knew what the script says because it almost looks as if the eagle were saying it: "Don't eff this up!!"

Throwback Thursday: a tiny portion of the hours long fireworks barrage on Tuesday, July 4th 2023. This is looking toward the end of our block. Our neighbors must have spent a fortune on fireworks. If you turned to the right or left, the same thing was happening just blocks away. #Oakland

"A fireworks show is supposed to be choreography: a launch, a bloom, a breath before the next one. At 354 per second there is no breath. There is a 40-minute wall of light and roar that no blink and no camera frame can resolve into individual fireworks, which means the only witness in a position to appreciate all 850,000 of them will be the launch computer. The organizers seem to have arrived at the same conclusion by their own route. Their guidance calls for hearing protection for all attendees, an N95 outdoors, windows closed at home, and as much time indoors as possible during and after the show. Helpfully, the event page also offers a livestream. Assemble all the recommendations and the optimal way to experience the largest fireworks display in history turns out to be from a sealed room, watching it on a screen. My Dahlia “Twinings After 8” is going to bloom soon. I’ve had this languishing in a pot for years, and it’s never bloomed. Finally decided to feed it and that’s the difference. I am excited!

The chairs in our front room until recently (now awaiting new upholstery) are from the 30s. Stainless cutlery was given to my parents in the 60s. Iroquois Casual china used daily is from the 50s. Bedroom furniture sold through the Co-Op 1960. Gas stove 1954. Bar is a 50s Beautility model.
