Honestly, at this point, I don’t know if it was the Tartan Army or some local wannabe 🤣.

Today’s treat perfectly balances smooth & smokey Highland Park w/ bright, sweet citrus peel.

And tonight, the bold flavor of Talisker bowls over what’s supposed to be a mix of milk chocolate, gianduja & currants. Don’t know what companion flavors would’ve stood up to it.

Today’s tiny bit of decadence: a Balvenie bonbon w/ a pronounced fruity flavor.

Dang, that’s $31.50 worth of food I could’ve freeganed from the building entrance last night. 🤷‍♀️ Today’s walk will include a community food scraps drop-off bin.

The outside of these Lagavulin truffles may be rough, but the filling of 1 was smooth in texture & to the tastebuds, w/ a lingering smokey taste. Trapezoidal version, alas, overwhelmed by the addition of caramelized honey. (Same issue as the ice cream flavor that left me unimpressed.)

Living it up on the weekend with 2 small Ardbeg caramels (yes, I did have a bonbon w/ my breakfast). More light sweetness, although the flavor doesn’t immediately hit. Think the caramel mellows this a bit.

Another light & sweet one, Laphroaig (w/ mouse add-ons):

The Tartan Army visiting Boston may have a well-earned reputation for consuming alcohol, but there’s 1 source they left untouched 😍. These Macallan bonbons feature the light, sweet flavor of the whisky, w/ the pistachio only a hint in the aftertaste.

Local #IceCream chain presents #WorldCup flavors. Here’s #Morocco: mint tea sorbet Mint completely overwhelms the tea, which is detectable only via color & a trace of astringency. (No idea if that’s how the traditional beverage usually comes across.)

Local #IceCream chain presents #WorldCup flavors. Here’s #Ghana: pineapple & coconut sherbet Both flavors strongly represented, & a scoop features chewy bits of each fruit. (Don’t like coconut myself, but I suspect anyone who does will really enjoy this.)

Local #IceCream chain presents #WorldCup flavors. Here’s #Haiti: akasan (corn flavored w/ cinnamon & anise). Nice flavor, & if you’ve viewed the other posts in the series, you can correctly predict the texture is slightly grainy—a small inconvenience of using spices rather than flavorings.

Local #IceCream chain presents #WorldCup flavors. Here’s #France: caramel beurre salé. Good thing it’s possible to get “kiddie” size cups & cones as this comes across as the richest, most decadent of the flavors so far.

Local #IceCream chain presents #WorldCup flavors. Here’s #Scotland: oatmeal whiskey & honey. Most diplomatic thing I can say: a local (chain) chocolatier’s Father’s Day box permits truly appreciating Scotland’s many & varied whiskeys. Also, the oatmeal cookie bits are crunchy.

Local #IceCream chain presents #WorldCup flavors. Here’s #England: sticky toffee pudding. Pronounced date/molasses flavor. Parents beware: child w/ cone will become a sticky mess & so will all their surroundings.

Local #IceCream chain presents #WorldCup flavors. Here’s #Norway: cardamom strawberry swirl. Nice flavor, but slightly grainy texture.

At Foxboro/ugh today pre-#WorldCup. Cupcakes ready, train platform…not yet.

7/ & pedestrians ride or amble down the streets as the barriers are pulled down. Slower entrants in the #BostonMarathon find the strength tonpush themselves on in solitude & silence, even if they’re too tired to move faster than an amble themselves.

6/ (The signs, of course, generally favor the speed of the #BostonMarathon entrants.) Downside of this phase: needing to wait in pedestrian corrals to cross the street, or perhaps not being able to cross at all. Then there’s the final phase. 4. The long tail: Crowds have vanished, bicyclists

2/ Morning build-up to #BostonMarathon continued: It’s Patriot’s Day so historical re-enactors ride through. Unlike “patriots” of social media, these are concerned about imminent arrival of “the redcoats.”
