I made a compact version of the Corsi-Rosenthal design using 12"x20" filters a few months ago. It works well and the fan I used didn't require a shroud. The fan is 9" (Black + Decker BFB09W) but the frame fits 12"x20" filters perfectly.

This machine reminds me of the the files in the opening sequence of The Prisoner.

Corvid friends. I was visited by a beautiful raven today. The raven spent 45 minutes hanging out just 5 feet away through the window. First it was in pancake mode, then wing stretches, leg stretches, pacing the ledge, talking raven talk, before flying to join other the other raven pals.
