Writer, editor, crafter, internet addict. Sometimes I blog. She/her/the knitting lady.
These photos were taken from the front porch and rooftop deck of my house in Toronto, Ontario at 11-ish this morning, July 15, 2026. #apocalypticsky #climatecrisis
Lindsey Graham did some good things, such as supporting Ukraine, but he did far more bad. He supported Trump despite knowing better. He wanted to "level" Gaza, invade Cuba, and bomb Iran. He bragged that the Republican Party was "killing all the right people and lowering taxes". 3/

I'm looking forward to the detrumpification of the United States. #denazification #detrumpification
I have enough beads and chips left that I can make another necklace just like the first and send it to my friend, but I'm furious about this. She should not have had her pleasure in a simple little gift marred in this way. Again, DO BETTER, CANADA POST. 6/
I believe this was a case of deliberate theft. Someone saw "necklace" on the list of contents on the package's mailing label, and knew that it wasn't being tracked. So they decided to open the package & take the necklace because they knew Canada Post wouldn't do a damn thing about it. 4/ #CanadaPost
I tried to report the missing necklace to #CanadaPost, but I don't have a tracking number for the package. It seems packages without tracking numbers aren't eligible for compensation. One also can't request an investigation if they go missing, are damaged, or arrive minus some of their contents. 3/
My friend received the package yesterday, April 10th. There was a note on it from Royal Mail saying the package had arrived damaged. When she opened it, it contained the card, slipper, bookmarks, and... a ribbon. No box, no necklace, no damage to anything. 2/ #CanadaPost
On March 30th, I mailed a little package to a friend in England via Canada Post. The package contained a card, and some little gifts I had made for my friend: a knitted slipper, four bookmarks made out of old greeting cards, and a necklace in a ribbon-tied box. 1/ #CanadaPost

I haven't used Twitter since December 2024, and there's a pinned tweet on my page that says so and refers people to my Bluesky account. But I'm wondering... should I delete my Twitter account entirely? Is that the more principled course of action, or does it matter? What say you, Blueskyers?
Now you know how Bette Davis and her body double must have felt when this photo was taken.
I have a too-full tin of cookie cutters for just about any occasion. A few days ago I decided to weed out a few. I was going to cull the clown because I'd never liked it, but then I thought, hey, it could be a killer clown for Halloween! and tossed it back in the tin. #HowIRoll #KillerClownForTheWin
I just looked up Mollie's Bluesky profile (in order to block it;)), and I can't stop laughing at this. I've never seen a clearer indication that someone knows full well that they're not very intelligent and that most of the people they meet are consequently quite dismissive of them.
He was shot at an event where he was speaking to an audience of college students about gun violence. Here's the last exchange he had with a member of the audience. 11/ #CharlieKirk #GunControlNow
He made a lot of bigoted comments about the LGBTQ and Black community, some of which appear in the meme below. 10/ #CharlieKirk #GunControlNow
Let me preface what I am about to say with this: I'm not celebrating Charlie Kirk's death. I don't at all condone violence or murder, and I want the person who shot him to be arrested, tried in a court of law, and sentenced appropriately. 1/ #CharlieKirk #GunControlNow
#PierrePoilievre has won the by-election in #BattleRiverCrowfoot by 80.4% of the vote. Damn it. I knew PP would almost certainly win the seat, but I did hope that he would at least get less than 70% of the vote. 1/ #canpoli
I'm actually finding myself wishing that this were the Baileys he was concerned with, rather than the sad, horrible truth.
I love how supportive the general public of Canada and the U.S. are being of each other. 1/ #canamrelations #canpoli #uspoli

Incidentally, if you'd like to upgrade your cookbook collection, I recommend checking the book section of thrift shops. They always have a variety of beautiful, interesting, cookbooks in excellent condition. These were all bought secondhand, except for one library freebie. #thriftshopping
I bought this 2011 Ontario cookbook, "The Ontario Table", by Lynn Ogryzlo, at Value Village yesterday for $4.71. It should help me buy & cook more with local produce, which is better both for the environment & for the Ontarian/Canadian economy. Also, the recipes all look delicious. #buyCanadian
I propose that henceforth in Canada, when a hockey player takes a shot on goal, and the puck then ricochets off the frame of the net and hits the player in the face, knocking him out cold, that it be known as "pulling a Pierre Poilievre". #canpoli #Election2025
Olivia needed a way to keep her doll's wardrobe together and carry it around, so I also made her a tote bag to keep it in. Note the interlocking "O"s in the fabric. Each outfit went in a separate ziploc bag so that Olivia would know what went with what, though I'm sure they won't stay that way. 10/
I cobbled up a little lace jabot out of some scraps of lace I had on hand, and used some silver buttons out of my button jar for the jacket. 10/
This is the outfit I'm proudest of. Olivia's father is a Wallace, and he and his family are very into their Scottish heritage. I made the tartan of this Scottish Highland outfit look as much like the modern dress Wallace tartan as I could. 8/ #knitting
