post '14 WR, I've changed the % calc so each yr's % (not total up to that cy) can stand out the yr 3 ceiling is huge most significant bc of how close yr 1 and 2 are, at least in the top 12 YR2 still > then yr 1, but YR 3 is now king especialy bc yr 1 has almost caught yr 2 in the top 12
not an update bc we've been ignoring the change in the rec game using 2001 as our sample, so here's 2014-2026 Not much changes, imo, mostly an increase of RB and QB trends about WR and TE have changed significantly
TE: rec positions are a slower grind for eveyone to b/o but by yr 3, a slower release after yr 3 tho expect by year 3, but I never mind hold a few TEs in empty bench spots in yrs 4+ if they have paths to opportunity
WR: Yr 2 peak, yet unlike the previous 2 most b/os are still due after yr 2 don't expect much year 1 as a rule, if nothing by yr 3 your probably late
RB: Beat yr 2 results in the business, but yr 2 is still peak; notably, 50%+ of top B/os happen by yr 2 Expect stuff year 1 as a rule, be disappointed if nothing by year 2
So here are the 2001-2026 positional breakout tables; they are about the same and have been for a while QB: Year 2 peak, close 55% of top 12 BO happen by then; that's 33% of all top 12 breakouts, which is almost double yr1&2
Only observation rn is that '25 was unprecedented at RB in the top 12 3/5 RBs repeated from '24, 7 of the top 12 That's the best repeat performance....ever Which I'm sure y'all appreciated...
